Fresh install with Ubuntu 9.10 on Acer Aspire 5100- Detects my wireless adapter, but doesn't show networks to connect to and if I try to setup manually, It does not connect. Is it a problem with driver? Wireless works fine on Windows Xp -Windows 7. As to the model number/name of the adapter, its the stock one, and all win 7 tells me is its a "Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter"

Put up the contents of the command lspci, and we can help some more.

    3. lspci
    4. ps -ef | grep -i networkmanager
    5. ps -ef | grep -i nm-applet

In the daze of yore, a program called fwcutter was used to install necessary files for Broadcom I think....but I'm not up to speed anymore as I've avoided anything but Intel Wireless for that last 3.5 years.

Ok. I had an Acera long time ago and the wlan was a PITA to get working. I remember having to download acer_acpi to get the card activated as the laptop switch wasn't really doing anything. Try to look for it in synaptic. It wouldn't hurt to try it and see if it can wake your wlan card up.
