Fresh install with Ubuntu 9.10 on Acer Aspire 5100- Detects my wireless adapter, but doesn't show networks to connect to and if I try to setup manually, It does not connect. Is it a problem with driver? Wireless works fine on Windows Xp -Windows 7. As to the model number/name of the adapter, its the stock one, and all win 7 tells me is its a "Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter"

frakking broadcom...should be ok...broadcom user needs to step in here....

Put up the contents of the command lspci, and we can help some more.
-
1. dmesg | grep -i wifi (instead wifi can be used also 'broadcom' or 'wireless')
2. dmesg | grep -i error (or warning)
3. lspci
4. ps -ef | grep -i networkmanager
5. ps -ef | grep -i nm-applet -

Sorry for not replying quicker - figured it out on my own. Went found out it was Broadcom 4311 and just installed the drivers manually. thanks for the replies though
