I have a Encore (model # ENUWI-SG) wireless usb adaptor that I'm trying to get working. On the ndiswrapper wiki, it lists it as supported and I got the net5523.inf file from another website. Under my device manager, it shows up as ar5523 with Device type and capabilities: unknown.

I installed ndiswrapper and I went to the folder with the inf file in it and did "ndiswrapper -i net5523.inf. I can't remember the exact feedback I got the first time but I now have a folder called net5523 in etc/ndiswrapper/ but there aren't any contents. So here are the different things that I tried and the results:

    kevin@kevin-ubuntu:~$ ndiswrapper -e net5523.inf
Driver net5523.inf is not installed.Use -l to list installed drivers
    kevin@kevin-ubuntu:~$ ndiswrapper -l
    Installed ndis drivers:
    net5523 invalid driver!
    kevin@kevin-ubuntu:~$ ndiswrapper -i net5523.inf
net5523 is already installed. Use -e to remove it
    kevin@kevin-ubuntu:~$

I'm not sure what to do now so any assistance would be much appreciated. This is my last step to being completely windows indepedent. :)

maybe first try dropping the .inf from the uninstall command.

http://www.encore-usa.com/Drivers/ENUWI-SG.zip << that's the drivers from the manufacturer.

at any rate, I don't have any experience with ndiswrapper, so I won't be of much other help.

Yeah, that's the same as what's on the cd but when I run it with wine, after it finishes the install I get: Unhandled Exception- DLL function crashed, setup will not terminate and I lose it all.

ah, crud... all the files are embedded in the setup.exe

what I don't get is that it's an atheros chip, so the madwifi driver should work http://madwifi.org/
