Guys, I have installed RedHat Enterprise with GRUB on my
T60p. The wireless is not working. When booted yo XP the wireless works fine.
Anyone can give me pointers/instruction how to make it work, what/how to install/configure?
Thank you.

Which WiFi card do you have?
-
11 a/b/g/n card
Peter -
No, which wireless card exactly.
Typeinto terminal - I think that'll give you a listing for the exact wireless card.Code:lspci
-
My Linux does seem to have lspci installed on it....
(I am a total beginnner in Linux, btw....)

You should've tried out Ubuntu, it's the easiest(or Mint), have you tried this:
Into a terminal?Code:iwconfig

Red Hat really is for more advanced users guy.
Try Ubuntu, Suse and Mandriva. -
Mint is another option, so is Dream Linux, Fedora is good as well.

If you are relatively new to linux, I second notandi.
Try Ubuntu, Suse and mandriva, in that order. -
I've found it:
Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5418 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)
Could you please give some instructions how to make it work?
Thank you
Peter -
Download Ubuntu 8.04 iso, burn it, boot it, install it.

If you have Atheros chipsets, head to www.madwifi.org
They may have some useful hints. -
To throw out the whole RedHat Enterprise system and
replace it with Ubuntu as a solution sounds a bit radical.
I am sure the wireless card can be made to work under RedHat, I just not too good in this Linux world - I just don't know how. My goal is to develop applications under Linux.
I have experience in Windows app, development under Windows, and I am trying to learn Linux.

Thomas is just pointing you to a more user friendly distro. But that being said, you learn a lot when you run into problems.
Now that we've established that it's an Atheros card, I have a couple of questions for you. Hopefully failing this, madwifi can help you.
1) Do you have windows drivers for your card? It's usually a .inf file. For example, net511.inf.
2) Do you have ndiswrapper installed?
If you answered yes to both of those, try and follow these instructions:
Click Me!
Those instructions are for configuring ndiswrapper in an EeePC. The wifi card in the Eee is Atheros, hence the reason why I linked you to this.
If that fails, let us know and we'll see what kind of magic pixie dust we need to sprinkle over your card to make it work.

This is a pretty new Atheros WiFi chipset so it's kind of technical to get it running using native Linux drivers. It would probably be easier to use the Windows drivers with the Linux program, NDISWrapper. The overall WiFi Linux driver information is at this ThinkWiki page, and the specific NDISWrapper steps are covered at this ThinkWiki page. At this ThinkWiki page there are the instructions for installing the latest native Linux drivers for your WiFi hardware.
Good Luck..
