Does this mean that Linux manufacturers could send this software with their releases and get virtualy any windows software runing in linux? another Question I have is wether this is a virtualization or are the programs runing natively? He said in the article that there was no performance decrease so that would lead me to think that the programs are runing natively.

1.Crossover is not free
2.It doesnt support all windows software (there is s compatibility list -
Your post is a little confusing.
"Question I have is wether this is a virtualization or are the programs runing natively?"
Well since WoW is compiled for Windows and the Mac OS, it would have to be emulated. The only way to run it "natively" would be to run it on it's target platform or recompile it for a different operating system.
"He said in the article that there was no performance decrease so that would lead me to think that the programs are runing natively."
In the article he says that he couldn't tell a difference... that is pretty un scientific. I am guessing that the reviewer is running WoW on a current system.. Since wow was realeased almost 2 years ago, if your performance dropped by 10 or 25 percent you would not be able to tell. -
he said that he has been playing the game for a while so that would lead me to think that he could tell if the thing would have a performance decreas. I admit that he was not to scientific but really it is the end user that will be able to tell if it runs better or not. Subjective yes, unsientific yes but it is all we have to go on right now.

CrossOver, like Cedega and WINE that they are both based on, do not emulate the code. They merely provide an interface for the Linux system and the Windows API that allow them to run. The only reason you'd see a performance difference is because GPU drivers for Linux are generally behind their Windows counterparts. The games run 'natively.'

So technically speaking it emulates the windows API then, wouldn't you agree?
