the social networking features I use that come built in with Flock are Stumbleupon, Photobucket, Blog editor and poster.....support for Gmail, Yahoo Mail, etc are built in....bunch of other stuff....RSS, you name it....no extensions needed.

Right now, until I can get more familiar with ubuntu/linux in general, I'll stick with what works for me.
Thanks though.
*baby steps, baby steps*I'm still getting used to the layout of everything, so I don't want to put too much on my plate just yet.

Are there any security vulnerabilities with FF2? Because otherwise, I honestly can't agree with your statement that FF3 is faster, not with the issues I'm having.
I'll upgrade once it's out of beta though. -
IT IS out of beta...lol
But Hardy Shiiped with Beta 5, which is a long way from FF3.
Hell, 3.01 is almost out. -
I updated firefox in the package manager, and it still only showed beta 5. I'll check the firefox website and just grab 3.0. -
Just apply all the updates, the package is "firefox-3.0".
-
Thanks.
Getting it now.

I am also not liking FF3 too much. Seems bloated, slow and has some features which I don't like. I don't like the whole recently bookmarked and tag thing they have going now. Just me opinion. I also felt that I should downgrade to FF2 but I just don't like the idea of going backwards.

There's nothing wrong with using what works. Isn't that the spirit of linux, giving the user a choice?
I had some more slow downs with 3.0, and that annoying work offline default, so I'm sticking with FF2 for now.No biggy.

Try some more browsers, like swiftweasel, epiphany, etc.
-
, that doesn't leave much if you want extensions in Linux....but, I use Flock 2 in Vista also as my preferred browser.
-
I actually like Konqueror when I'm in KDE.
Just needs a new name.. -
I was thinking about trying Kubuntu again, I just might.
-
hehe, you've got the distro hoppi'n fever know.
It wont leave you. -
-
lol.....thats just horrible....lmao...
-
Kind of like before, when I couldn't decide between 98 or XP, then XP, 2000 or Vista, now this. -
@talin: You may need my distro hoppin' avatar, complete with his bag of distro CD's lol

Just installed Arch Linux + KDemod..it is FAST. -
Just a couple questions if I may?
For one, how are hardware drivers handled when new platforms come out? I'm waiting for montevina to get a new laptop, but I'm concerned about driver availability. Of course I'd imagine that eventually drivers would be released, and perhaps montevina based drivers will be available with the next release (intrepid).
My second question is, I heard a few years ago about the ability to save "states" in linux, like save your current state (work open, browser, whatever) and assign it to your F keys, so if your computer crashes, you can just load your last state. Is this true? It's simply just curiousity, linux has been very stable for me thus far so I don't imagine I'd need anything like that. -
It "should" work, no gaurantee though.
-
Not to change the subject but has anyone here used WINE?
-
I have, ya got any questions?
-
Is it stable enough to game in it?
-
What games?
-
-
Ugh, I just saw the compatibility database the other day for wine, I'll look around and post back.
EDIT: Ah, simple enough. Here it is.
-
Has anyone tried the Xfce desktop? Wow, I like it a lot.
And only a 60mb download too.
-
Yep, it's nice.
-
Now that I know you can install them separately, I'll just use ubuntu with gnome/xfce/kde.

Because it's only a 60mb download, and I don't have a reliable enough connection to download xubuntu (no discs available
).
Wow, I LOVE kubuntu
