I have a few Linux/P34G issues:
I've been trying to get Xubuntu x-64 13.10 to install on my machine, but it doesn't work. If I set it to legacy boot, the Xubuntu screen loading indicator just spins and spins. If I set it to UEFI boot, the screen loading indicator freezes.
I had Lubuntu 14.04 installed on an external hard drive to try it out, but I want to use Xubuntu because of XFCE. I deleted the EFI boot partitions on my Msata drive, but the Ubuntu bootloaders for Lubuntu are still present in Bios. Is this related to Xubuntu not working? How do I remove them? I can still boot to Windows by the way.
Last, when I installed Lubuntu, it didn't detect my Windows install. I have two drives: one is a 1 tb hdd with my data and the other is my windows boot ssd. I'd like to have Xubuntu and Windows boot from the ssd and have the 1tb drive for shared games/data. How would I do this?
I have fooled around with Linux in the past, but I am a "newbie." Any help is much appreciated!

Why not try a fresh install of Mint 13 LTS (xfce) 32 bit? I think you will like it alot...

Some things you might want to try:
1. The freezing is more likely to be caused by the version differences (14.04 vs. 13.10) rather than the distro flavor (Xubuntu vs. Lubuntu). So you could try Xubuntu 14.04 and it's likely to work.
2. You could go with Lubuntu and get XFCE running in ~30 seconds. Just type "sudo apt-get install xfce" in a terminal. When you log out, you should be able to select XFCE as an option in the dropdown to pick your WM.
3. You'll probably have to mount the windows partition from linux. Here's a guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MountingWindowsPartitions
Hope that helps!
I do not know what you mean by "I deleted the EFI boot partitions on my Msata drive, but the Ubuntu bootloaders for Lubuntu are still present in Bios." Could you be more specific about exactly what you did and what you're seeing happen as a result? -

Interesting. So the P34G has a bios option to disable the 760M according to that blog post. I wonder what battery life is like with the 760M disabled? After a pretty frustrating experience with the Zbook 14 and AMD graphics switching under Linux it would be nice to just be able to disable the card entirely for work use, but still have the option of enabling it in case I want to boot into Windows to play a game or two.
