I will be running ubuntu on it as that is the linux operating system I am most familiar with. It looks really good compatability wise but I wanted to make sure it would all work well out of the box with hardy heron. Thanks.

For Linux compatibility with specific laptop models, it's usually more useful to go to forums specific to users of your target hardware, if they exist. In this case Lenovo has user forums, and a Linux specific forum, so you're in luck. Another useful place to go are the forums specific to your preferred distro, like the Ubuntu User Forums. In Ubuntu's case you are again in luck, in that you can visit their Laptop hardware compatibility page, and see that there is a community Lenovo laptop page, which lists the following Lenovo 3000 N200 installation reports;
Ubuntu Gutsy Final #1
Ubuntu Gutsy Final #2
Alternately there are sites that collect user installation "howto" reports regarding Linux installations on various laptops. These include;
TuxMobil
Linux on Laptops
The Linux Laptop Wiki
Here's some relevant pages for Linux and the Lenovo 3000 N200 from these sites;

Tuxmobil Lenovo Category
Lenovo 3000 N200 and Mandriva 2008 Installation Report
Lenovo 3000 N200 and Debian Installation Report
Linux Laptop Wiki for the Lenovo 3000 N200
As a last resort you can always Google for your laptop model and the word Linux. From a Google search today for the Lenovo 3000 N200 and Linux comes these relevant hits;
Lenovo 3000 N200 0769-G4U Linux Compatibility Testing Results
