I am thinking about getting a HP Envy 17 and dual boot it with ubuntu. Anyone has tried it with success? Any gotchas that I need to look out for? Thanks.

Uhg. Broadcom STA (proprietary driver that has lockup/stability issues)... and the new brcm80211 driver has a lockup issue itself with that 43224 adapter. There are different configs for the envy 17 so you should probably post which you are looking at.
