Just curious. I know there're some large RAID-5s set up out there. What filesystem do you use?

I have ext3 on it. reiser is good, but ever since he killed his wife, there's limited support for it. You want something journaled. From what I've seen, reiser is best with lots of small files, and ext3 is more efficient for larger files, as well as a bit faster writing speed.

Use the LVM (Logical Volume Manager) for the raw disk then set up using a journaled file system like REISER or Jfs or xfs.
BTW, was Reiser convicted?

Small is between 1k and 1MB usually, large is bigger than that
Especially things like music, video, etc. that are hundreds of megabytes.
