    can linux be loaded from a usb drive?

    I use library computers I don't think they can burn a cd within the one hour I get.

    If your library has a cd-rw drive, you should be able to burn it. It doesn't take but a few minutes.

    Otherwise, you can just download it, put it on your flash drive(providing it's large enough), take it home and burn it to a cd then.

    Both of those methods should work I won't be giving windows the boot until I can live without it.

    I know with Slax you use a program called MySlax Creator to put a bootable version on usb thumb drive. I do not think just putting the iso on the drive will work. Any distro should work with it since it is just an iso. Which distro are you using?
