    i downloaded what i though was the installer for ubuntu and it was like 700mb then it never installed it just opened and basically just gave me a tour of it.

    anyone have a link to the file i can download?

    click install on desktop when its loaded. you got of their site right?
    its a iso file which you have to burn to cd. you then boot from cd press enter on #1 wait for it to load and the click install.

    But I don't think you can just burn the ISO as a data CD. Don't you have to use Nero Burning ROM or something, so it's like a real CD and not just an image?

    You have to burn it as an ISO image; otherwise the disc won't work. ;)

    Mat, It sounds to me that you're trying to load the disk within Windows (hence the tour). You need to shutdown the computer and boot from the CD, you may have to go into the BIOS to change the boot order to boot from CD before booting from the hard drive.
