    i have just been given the above laptop bacause the screen was smashed,so ive connected it to my tv and it says PANIC THE CPU IS TO OLD FOR THE KERNEL,i dont no anything about linux os,how can i get this back into windows and get it working,thanks i advance.

    You can install windows simply by booting to the windows cd/dvd that dell provides with the laptop when it is purchased. The drivers can be installed either from the supplied cd or from dells website.

    thanks for reply,but this laptop was given to me for free and i didnt get any discs,could i buy these from dell

    A CPU too old for Linux is almost impossible, and the D600 is a Pentium M model unless I am mistaken. Linux is compatible with any x86 CPU. Maybe you should try doing a checksum to make sure the ISO doesn't have any errors, then burn it again at the slowest speed.
