    Hi all
The migration from Gutsy to Hardy has been nice and smooth for the most part. Today I noticed that "glxinfo" is showing that I don't have direct rendering. Before I upgraded from Gutsy it was working. It also works with the live cd. See copy of my xorg.conf file.
    Thanks for your help.

Can you type "glxgears" into the command line and post the output?

I run glxgears with and without direct rendering (live cd) and was getting just a few more fps but here is the screenshot.

If glxgears works, then your 3D acceleration is working as it should; the Intel driver does that. You can run Compiz, right?

Yes no problem there Compiz runs just fine. But as far as I know glxgears works even without direct rendering just slower. Am I wrong?

I don't think Compiz allows other applications to use DRI. But, you can at least load the DRI modules. Can you add this to your xorg.conf file:

    Section "Module"

    Load "glx"
    Load "dri"

    EndSection

I've got an X3100 on my work laptop here, with direct rendering running. The X3100 is a blacklisted card for Compiz, but I believe you can remove it if you want to. Here's my xorg.conf

I think the X3100 was blacklisted in Gutsy but not in Hardy.
    Thanks for your help.
