since I had returned my vostro linux laptop for another, I've been stuck in windows 7 for 10 days. I have to say Win7 is pretty good, especially when compared to Vista...but, it IS windows still, and thusly, borrrringgggg.

I'm finally back in a linux world, karmic x64 now, and I have to say it's pretty great. I was a fish outta water.

yipppeee yi yo tay ayyyyyyyyy :p

That's good to hear, welcome back to Linux. :)

For some reason every time I tell myself I'm done using Linux a few days later I will always reinstall Linux. I'm pretty sure I reinstalled Linux over 20 times literally.

Glad ur back to safety ;)

I feel dirty when I reboot to 'doze for games. But on my current machine it understands and bsods after long 'nuff... aaand back home to debian in 15 secs :)

w7 is alright tho imho. By m$ standards. It still feels like a cheap rental car to me, that will probably never change.

True words 'groceries. Once you have acquired a 'taste' for linux, Windows is never the same, even though 7 is pretty darned good. I'm in Mint 8 now on my Vostro...waiting on my other Precision to ship...that's going to be interesting i.e. the new Precision and Linux.

Yeah, I just picked up a $30 win7 64 license to replace my aging xp install. It's pretty nice so far. I think I'm going to buy another cheap license to put on my htpc because flash video is so crappy on Linux.

But yeah, I can't go without my Linux partitions for very long though.

it's a deal they offer to students or university employees.

I switched over to OSX after getting a "broken" macbook pro and fixing it for $11. :D

but I'm looking at my KDE mint install and it's lonely......

If you have a university email address or know someone who does, you can qualify for a $30 license.

I kinda need a little more help before I complete the installation. I managed to use unetbootin to create a linux mint 8 usb boot and I am attempting to install it now. I have made it to the point where I have to choose/make a partition.

I have an ntfs 75 gig partition that I want to install it on but it won't let me. When I go into the advanced options. It gives me a list of filesystems

I chose "Ext4 journaling file system"

The next option that it gives me is "Format the partition" then a check box. Should I check this box in?

the next and final option it gives me is the mount point mine is at "/" . What is the mount point and which one should I select?

    please help fast

That $30 offer is over, it's up to $65 now, the regular student price.
