This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    i understand there is fingerprint drive for linux.
    Will i be able to use it for log in linux? or just for BIo and save password?

    You're going to have to get in and configure PAM and, possibly recompile/patch your login manager for support, if it's there at all. Alternatively, you may be able to script a non-graphical login which then starts X. It's not something easy to get going.

    I know the scanners in Thinkpads have solid support. From what I understand, the drivers for those in HP models are more of proof of concept toys. I don't know any others that have a driver at all, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

    If you have a Thinkpad, try thinkwiki.org, they likely have something.
