is anyone using or can recommend a recently made scanner that works under linux? the sane list has scanners listed on there, one, that I threw away 8 years ago....![]()
Need a current recommendation if anyone has one....

Brother MFC have great linux support. I have the MFC-665CW and they had drivers for the printer, scanner and FAX modem. I only installed the scanner and printer. All working over IP too. Brother for the win, they suport Lnux.

I have a HP photosmart c7280 all-in-one that scans fine in ubuntu.

Ok.....I just bought an Epson V500 photo flatbed scanner....works great with Ubuntu x64....the 64 bit drivers in .deb pkgs can be scored here (click the 'English' button, then scroll to the bottom and pick your epson scanner):

install both debs, in the order listed:
DEB 64bit packages (for Ubuntu 8.10 or later)
Code:iscan_2.21.0-6.ltdl7_amd64.deb iscan-plugin-gt-x770_2.1.1-2_amd64.deb
EDIT: forgot, after installing these packages, Xsane will start working also. -
Thanks for the heads up. I have a Cannon that WON'T work with Linux. I'll be sure to support Brother from now on. I have a few of their small laser printers and have been very pleased with them.
