I've been trying to install Linux Mint 14 RC to my UX32a-DB31's internal SSD which is 32GB. The laptop supports UEFI and launches the flash drive in UEFI mode. From there I attempted to install and it crashes on the grub-efi installation. Obviously, without grub I can't boot into it.

I have the disk parted like so:
    /dev/sdb1/ efi 150mb
    /dev/sdb2/ swap 4096mb
    /dev/sdb3/ ext4 27721mb

After booting the flash drive in BIOS mode, I was able to successfully install but I can't see GRUB (legacy I'd assume?) anywhere in my BIOS. Any ideas on how to solve this?

When the installer crashes, can you get to the log by hitting Ctrl+Alt+F3 or another F key?

Any idea where the log would be stored? The only error I can gather is "the 'grub-efi' package failed to install into /target/".

I'm not sure about Mint's installer; if it's like debian the log would be stored in /var/log/installer/syslog

But while you're actually in the installer it will be on a virtual console like tty3 (ctrl+alt+f3).

Ubuntu 12.10 installed fine by overwriting the HDD's bootloader. I guess I'll just use that. Actually that didn't work. It's trying to load the Windows 7 loader as a GPT not a MBR. Oh well, at least I can boot into both using the bios.
