    My friend wants to get rid of the hard drive and trash bin icons on his debian install. Does anyone know how to do this?

    thanks!

    I'll assume you're running GNOME? If I recall correctly the options for desktop icons can be found in the Nautilus (file manager) settings interface.

    Hi,

    googled for this today and found the answer in the first google result.

    On terminal or whatever, run gconf-editor
    go apps->nautilus->desktop
    uncheck the boxes you don't want.

    Done! :)
