Because I purchased a TXN15 before Oct, I couldnt get a vista for free...
Is this guide okay for me to learn linux?
I have never used linux before... anything I should know? I am downloading the mandriva-free 2007 DVD. I would like to have some extra knowledge before I mess up anything.

Even though I love Linux, if the only reason you are moving is because you aren't getting Vista free, then don't do it. It's not really an easy process to suddenly jump from Windows to Linux (unless you really know what you are doing, or have seriously researched and played around with Linux).

That guide you have posted is similar to all kinds of help you can get here or any of the numerous Linux forums online, and for your specific distro. If you want to switch, figure out what distro you want, download it, and ask us any specific questions you have.

hmm i changed my mind. and decided to install it at my S460. (i use S460 for desktop and N15 for notebook)

    anyway...
    I downloaded a Mandriva 2007 DVD on S460 VAIO

    I clicked HardDrake

It says "the following devices need proprietyary drivers or firmwares......."

    -intel (R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG

I went to run config tool and selected "Wireless"
it tells me go to ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php

That page is confusing... can someone give me better direction??

I am supose to download files and click the run config tool right?

*actually.. i am taking it pretty serious. I went to the linux.org/lessons page and start learning... but they all seems kind of confusing. for instance, whats the point of having the Vi basics?

Is there any video lessons that I can watch?
