Hi, I recently installed ubuntu on my computer. However, I need to install a D-Link external usb wireless adapter driver from windows for the Internet to fully function. Ubuntu instructed me to install ndisgtk through package manager... but it doesn't show me how. I searched all over the place but it doesn't exist. Can someone give a noob instruction on how to install ndisgtk and install the windows wireless adapter drivers?

Did you try add/remove under applications?

Or you could load up Synaptic which is under Administration. After you install it just pop in the dongle CD and grab the correct .inf file (the driver) and install it using ndisgtk. If that's confusing then just install it and you'll figure out what to do next by yourself.

Please don't triple post on Notebook Review Forums Hates BSOD, it's generally frowned upon because there is an edit button on each of your posts so that you can add information.

probaby the reason you cant find it is because u have not reloaded/refreshed your the applications on you synaptic package manager (applications are known as packages on linux) open synaptic and select reload. then search for the ndisgtk again.

I think if you don't see it in the package manager you have to go in the menus find something called manage repositories or something simillar and make sure that you selected all of them. Then it should pop up in a search. Otherwise apt-get install ndisgtk should do the same thing.

good point .. its actually .. settings/repositories then go to the 3rd party repositories tab and check on the available repositories. click ok and hit the reload button
