So this may be a bit odd but does anyone know if the Sylvania netbook that was sold a couple years back with the VIA 8505 cpu and Windows CE embeded can be formatted and switched over to a linux distro? I can get one for really cheap and the only use I would have for it is to be able to do that. Thanks in advance.

It does look like there are people actively tooling around with it. After some digging it looks like the video and card reader drivers are binary-only modules, so there is no source code for that. It may not be a problem for getting the system running but if you want to hack around it could be an issue. VIA sucks.
