    has anybody got the onboard wifi to work in ubuntu 8.04 for a averatec 3250? I have done extensive searching and nothing has worked yet.

    It should be the rt2500 driver from this project, and here's the Ubuntu help page for the driver. Here's an Ubuntu howto for the rt2500 WiFi drivers, and here and here are Ubuntu users posting on their work, and success, at getting the Averatec Wifi working.
