Dell sells Laptops with Ubuntu, and I think they sell biz laptops with out an OS, although neither save you much $$$.

You'll be able to install Ubuntu whether your new system does or does not already have an OS installed - and it's so easy even I've managed! Have fun.

You can also consider machines such as from http://www.powernotebooks.com (where I got mine) that you have custom-built that you can order without an OS.

You can install Ubuntu on just about anything, so Yes. Chances are though even a refurb will have either XP or Vista on it. Try the Dell Outlet for some deals. And thanx.

Not natively. You may have some luck with wine/cedega or virtualization .. otherwise you will need to consider a dual boot.

Halo definitely not. Neverwinter Nights can run natively under Linux.

Is it a special edition for Linux or it's an universal edition?

If a game uses Framework (a C compiler), it won't work for sure.

You can download a native installer from Bioware, or it works quite nicely through Wine.

Basically, if you use Ubuntu you will have to use a program called WINE to make your windows programs work OR you will have to switch to open source alternatives. Not all programs can run under WINE.

You also don't need to install antivirus/spyware software since Linux systems *rarely* get infected. I don't have them installed on my laptop.

I suggest doing some research on Wine's site ( www.winehq.com) and see if your software are compatible with Wine
