1. You can do anything with it, usually with a dead simple solution. It uses an unadulterated unpatched kernel so you can slap in any kernel from Kernel .org. The new kernels are new kernels! and support even my DELL Precison.
2. Know what a bloated sluggish distro feels like? Slack is the complete opposite. This is what brings me back for the most part and now I've got it on both machines so la de da.....![]()
3. Compiling from source has it's advantages in the end, I mean once you have all the programs you want, it's nothing to upgrade.
ps....konqui over there has to go...I'm using Xfce exclusively now....going to slap in 4.6.0 now.....lol

Try arch and make heavy use of ABS (Arch Build System). You can just change the c flags in the makepkg configuration to optimize for your architecture (I forgot where it's located). Search "Safe C Flags" in the arch wiki and you'll be in the right place.
