After reading the thread title, my subconscious told me I wanted a beer. Then I read the article. :)

Good article though! I've been waiting to see how the linux community will tackle multitouch.

I hope this functionality means that not only linux-based tablets/pads will benefit from multitouch, but also multitouch-enabled surfaces like current generation Synaptics ClickPads (like those on the Envy14), Wacom Bamboo and Intuos products etc....

I'm using Mint9 on my Envy14, but its multitouch functionality is more limited than in Windows at current (then again, I'm using a default repo Synaptics driver), but most of all very little of the Linux OR Windows desktop is made for navigating in a multitouch fashion. Begrudgingly, I can admit that Apple has innovated here as a large amount of their products have a multitouch capability of some sort, so they created software to take advantage of it.

I imagine the Linux community will do some great work with this from basic navigation to new UI overlays. What we need now is a high quality, sub $100 piece of hardware to give any desktop or laptop multitouch functionality, with open source drivers. The Apple Magic Trackpad and Wacom Bamboo products are moving in the right direction, but the former has compatibility issues with anything that's not a Mac and the latter has unimpressive software/drivers.

Hmm...maybe the WarMouse fellows would be interested...

In addition to the Dell XT2, HP tx2 and Lenovo T410 they mention, there are multitouch patches for the Eee T101MT; I've had my eye on that machine for a while.

wiki page here and epic thread here

That exactly what I was thinking :) The tittle reminded me of when I was at a 4-H competition and a Red Bull car drove up and gave us kids as many Red Bulls as we wanted :D Those where the days.

Does the Multi-touch work with my Macbooks multi-ouch(in Windows it is ouch) touchpad?

Hmm... Multitouch gestures for drunks. LMAO.

I'll be getting a TM2 in about a month, so I'm super excited to try this.
