Anyone know how to install ubuntu (any version) on averatec 6210?

    specs: amd athlon xp-m 2400+, 512 ram, 60 gb hd, SiS m741

    I've tried a couple distros..
ubuntu 7.04: hangs at the splash menu, the progress bar freezes at 1 pixel; after trying "noapic nolapic" in the boot parameters

ubuntu 6.06: stuck at "*saving vesa state..." after putting "live vga=771 noapic nolapic" and a couple variations of that line in the boot parameters

possible problems are outdated drivers- but dont know where I can find them

im new to linux so any help would be appreciated!

    thanks in advance

It's most likely your graphics solution. SiS graphics aren't even well supported in Windows, let alone Linux. You'll probably have to look around Google to see ifyou an find some info on SiS graphics and Ubuntu.
