i burned a dvd of ubuntu studio 9.04 64 bit. the software i was burning it with, roxio easy media creator 10 said "some of the files on the disk burned do not match the image." or something... and said i should try burning it again.

so when i go start it up and run "verify disk contents" it says its fine. what do you think? im going to try another one... but i installed with it and everything seems to be working except my IP address :p it said its probably dhcp (duh) but it couldnt figure it out. it detected my network card (intel 5100) fine with the hardware test.

oh actually the first time i started it it froze completely after i tried to do something click on something pretty simple like the clock... but it was fine afterwards. ive installed ubuntu 8.10 32 bit before with absolutely no problems. but i guess thats pretty different.

I'd be suspicious with the burned dvd and spent another dime on new disc and perhaps also tried some other burning sw, it's ton of it on the net for free even for windows :).
You should also know in which way you connect to network - cable, wi-fi?
If you use gnome for desktop - do you use network manager to connect (nm-applet) ?
