This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    upgrade/get newer version of GEdit on ubuntu 12.04?

    i'm on ubuntu 12.04 and my gedit is 3.41, it's the only version available to me. How do upgrade or get a newer version of gedit on ubuntu 12.04?

    You can download it directly from packages.ubuntu.com for a newer release, as long as it doesn't have dependencies that require upgrades.

    If it does have dependencies that require upgrades, you can add a newer release to your sources.list and pin gedit to that release. Search for 'apt pinning'.
