Hello guys.
This is maybe not the correct forum to ask this question, but I still feel you can give me the best answers.
I am about to buy a notebook, which I primary will use to code on (PHP/Mysql). Of course I want the resolution to be as high as possible, but not so high that I get a problem seeing what I'm working on.
Have anyone used wsxga+ with linux, and how is it to work on? I will, at least in the beginning, mainly use the notebook-screen.
TIA

With X.org this should be absolutely no problem. If text gets too small, you can adjust the configuration to give you larger fonts. Also most editors (Quanta, for example) will also let you customize fonts and sizes, so legibility will always be adaptable to your needs.
Usually display drivers (ATI vs NVidia) has been more of an issue, but this is levelling out now, although NVidia might still have the edge. -

I have SXGA+ on a 14.1" and its quite nice, linux handles font sizes better than windows.

Well I've got a 15.4" WUXGA and Ithink its the perfect size, so anything smaller should be perfectly readable without any issues.

I also prefer NVidia's drivers to ATI's, especially in Linux. As far as resolutions... don't worry about it. You can change the font defaults fairly easily for both Gnome and KDE. If it's too small, just kick the default fonts up a notch or two, and you'll be good. I run Linux on two 17" monitors, both running at 1600x1200, and it's beautiful
