ok appart of the memory the mobility hd 4850 is an underclock 4870, i wish i had the gt725 to oc the gpu and see what scores in mobility hd 4870 clocks, i hope faisal or an gt725 owner reads this.

Where did you hear this info from?
thats gotta be really odd because i have a 7811 and Stock out of the box @ 1280 x 1024 = 8300 then i updated it with the new NVidia Drivers and i got 8700 no overclock or anything so 9500 is WAYY exagerated. ive seen one guy that got 9800 3dmark but that guy OC'ed his GPU and he had only the stock processor.
So this GPU is much more then meets the eye. -
most people compare the HD 4870 with the GTX 260, impressive for ATI comparing to a Nvidia's newer series card.
-
The 8800m GTS is like that too, gets mediocre scores compared to the GTX, but ramp up the clocks 100-150mhz ( saw a guy with 640/940 stable 3dmark06 ) and you get basically a GPU model higher in scores. I say that because I don't like what Nvidia did there with the 9800 series... it was like they were sitting there thinking up a new GPU, and said " Hey, we're wiping the floor with old red, so uhh....here's a video card or something, like it's new and stuff!''
Just like the 9800m GTS is basically a 8800m GTS on a smaller die clocked 100mhz higher, the 8800m GTS can nearly match 9800m GTS scores if you have a chip that can handle it, and I'm glad I do.

could you post some pics or a you tube video of the mouse and back pack? I know not the most important thing but it still helps my decision. Thank you so much for all you have done by the way. Class act all the way.
-
how much over lock i have to do to match 4870?
have u seen unboxing video u can see box and back pack if u have and still want more i will post some more let me know -
No you're right, you're right. I wonder when ATI comes out with the 5000 series, I always hear about ATI stuff first, I always secretly root for the little guy =D
-
So far it looks like 600+, I would think the driver would stop responding if you went too much higher. I can't seem to find any solid info about the clocks though, if you ask me, I would say it will have around a 650-680 core clock.
and conservatively a 900 mhz memory clock -
would nt let me go over 550 and 900
-
Try ATI Tool, I used to use that for my X1900 XT, but don't push anymore than 620 on those clocks. memory isn't as much of a factor right now, since you have ddr3 instead of ddr5, the 5 series is 2ns fetch vs. 4ns fetch on the ddr3, GDDR3 couldn't clock it's way out of GDDR5's hell =D So don't even worry about goin more than 850 with memory http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=725
-
Also if you do actually get ATI Tool running stable on a 600+ clock, watch those temps like a hawk, don't let em go higher than 95C ever.
-
yup thats where i am trying
first basic review live on u tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VjeSEv1xV4 -
Yeah I couldn't see the mouse very good and only saw the backpack in the plastic wrap. I appreciate it.
-
Ok if the clocks of the mobility hd 4870 are too high, well faisal you could oc the gpu to the max stable levels i hope ati tools works fine in xtreme oc. just check the temps of the gpu
-
question... are these scores stock with no over clock of cpu/gpu or are they over clocked?
-
well one of these are normal one in turbo mode which only over lock the cpu i have,nt done any test with overlock gpu some1 else had and it reached 10+

Heat thats my question, i love my 7811 but the heat its just....too much and it actually is starting to get a little loud(the fan) just browsing the net.
Is it the same thing with the MSI for heat/noise? -
thanks!
and one more question...your vantage mark score p4410 with 4000 for gpu..was that over clocked or stock? -
Technically this is incorrect as it takes 8 or so of those units to equal one of what nVidia calls a CUDA unit, so in the end they are more or less equal from that standpoint although they do differ in GPU processing flow neither of which variations have been adequately shown to be superior to the other.
As to ATI GPUs further reading informs me that ATI has taken to keeping the number of processing units relatively constant, while varying GPU clock frequencies and VRAM type to differentiate amongst models, but we'll see how long this lasts... -
Eh, I feel you, but there is nothing midrange about the mobile 4850.
-
800 breaks down do be about 160 true sp's per card. or 320 true sp's with dual cards.
-
@brianvp
9XXX series is now considered to really be nVidia's prior generation cards as the GTX series are rapidly replacing them, although I doubt that they'll show up in nbs any time soon.
Probably a better chance of m4850X2 and m4870X2 first, unless clevo or someone does it, but I'd hate to see the weight on it as they'd have to beef up the PSU, of course the same holds true for the 48YZx2 cards... -
they are working on a g280m so i guess we will find out soon enough what this next installment from nvidia will do...
-
@Terminus123
by rights the 4850x2 and 4870x2 should be compared to the GTX series... -
laptop is runing 5 hours now and i have done many bmark its cold as ice no nosie at all only noise i can hear is my toshiba.
vantage was just normal no overclocking dont take that result too seriously bz that was my first run with atil drive 8. i m sure i can do bettet now but i only had one chance in trial version. -
oh no, i figure it should get better.
-
Hey john, what do your single stock GTX Farcry 2 numbers look like @ 1680x1050?
-
i am doing a new vantage bmark so we ll find out in a bit
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
that is pretty sick man yeah i had toshiba before they are loud as well
the cooling in this notebooks must really good.
-
dont have a 1680x1050 run ill do one later today though
and mine are also dx10 and not dx9 -
here are the latest vantage result
normal mode no over locking these are better than yesterday for grapichs
http://service.futuremark.com/home....BA49E9CB36B5A4A?resultId=765672&resultType=19
the one i done yesterday was in turbo mode i just checked again -
now this is more like right!
hummmm, what's up with your turbo button...lol. or is it a de-turbo-fier.
just kidding.
edit: how come the clocks read
Core clock 1170 MHz
Memory clock 585 MHz -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
he probably has alot of programs running in the background today.
-
John , those are SLI benchmarks? or single, err I mean did you disable a card for that test.
-
lol nothing up with it i think upgrading ati driver to 9.1 must have bo0st the score i am sure if i run turbo no it will be better for cpu aswell but my trial is expire
a few not much -
disabled one card for that test with two cards i get about 63 to 67 fps with everything set to ultra high
-
Also John, I see your sig says " record vantage single card 7k" now is that the gpu score , or the overall>?
I just want a solid comparison on the 9800m GTX vantage GPU score to the 4850 is why I ask.
Thanks bud -
So this basically gets a benchmark of over +10,000 without overclocking. I think that's what a lot of people were looking for. -
Phew, man...
You got quite a lapdancer there
-
click the links. they show in detail about each run.
vantage mark is far better at getting to the bottom of how ones card will perform. 3dmark is more cpu/fsb. -
Hah, derrrrr on my part, I see now.
-
we do this now so the world can get an idea how to better their own performance. allot of nvida cards show the correct clocks (3dmark when ran with stock driver & and a few other driver types as well) and usually with vantage mark it shows the majority of nvidia cards with the correct clock speeds & driver version. helps others in the long run. but with ati cards is usually something like 18/9 and the older driver gives it correctly, but i forget now.
-
So 4900 for the 4850
and 5700 for the 9800
Okay, I like that, performance on par with the new GTX, I'm impressed still.
BUT I'll tell you what I don't like... that stupid keyboard placement. Why on earth did they move the whole keyboard over a half inch, only to smunch the shift key into a pea sized useless error zone. My gateway's shift key is 25% smaller and I make plenty of errors. Plus the layout being offset like that makes the whole thing look wrong IMO. The GPU vent is on the right side, that's weird too, but really all this is cosmetic, the sucker performs EXTREMELY well given it's price docket matches most low end laptops. I'd like to see you buy a laptop with a gpu that gets that score in vantage, for less tahn 1700. If anyone can find one, prove me wrong =p -
This is after you changed your drivers from Cat 8.x to 9.x?
-
look at ichime...lol
and his overdrive worked as well...lol
edit: (speculation of course) -
For comparison, here's a thread from XoticPC that compares a Sager NP5796 with a 9800M GTX + T9600 with the OCZ Whitebook with a T9600 as well (Single and Dual). This was before the 8.12 Catalyst drivers though, but it includes Crysis Warhead, Vantage Extreme and Performance mode with GPU physX on and off, and Far Cry 2 long ranch.

well sir...we're all waiting on your link???
-
yes thats rite running some more so hold tight i m going to pull a rabit out my hat
-
I don't know if I would call 4900 on par with 5700. 4900 is still an excellent score though. Give time, it should do even better.
-
Sorry about that:
