What does your core speed say with gpuz.
-
@Eurocom Support
I too am curious about NVMe RAID support. In your online configurator it says otherwise. The chipset supports it though
-
Base: 1443 MHz, Boost: 1645 MHz
-
Yes also .800v here.. seems like that's one of the big differences from laptop to desktop versions but the board design is smaller so less voltage is probably fine.. also doesn't seem to be a performance issue since a small Overclock will beat a stock desktop 1070.. just would be nice to undervolt a tad to lower temps.
-
You should still be able to upgrade your Win 7 key to Win 10 with this little workaround: http://www.howtogeek.com/265409/you...-for-free-from-microsofts-accessibility-site/
-
Hahaha. I just purchased a Windows 10 Key yesterday, but thanks for the workaround
-
Isnt that boost kinda low. I know my is higher and higher voltage but the temperature isnt really high.

PlayAsia is selling Windows 10 Pro OEM keys for about $26 dollars.

By "boost" clock, I meant the reported clock from GPU-Z, yours is the same. My actual boost clock can reach 1800MHz+, but can't stay there due to my low power limit. I have no idea what is going on here... Any thoughts @Diversion @Talon?
-
The boost listed in GPU-Z/NvidiaInspector/etc.. is just the theoretical max boost it can achieve.. It's only reading the boost tables and reporting back the maximum boost clock. In practice, the clocks will be jumping from base and higher and rarely will be able to hit the maximum boost. These Pascal BIOSes are very jumpy compared to outgoing Maxwell.. They seem to ride closer to the base clock more than boosting much higher likely because of the lower power limit.. Whereas the desktop versions of the 1070 have either an unlocked power limit or higher native one, they do hold higher clockspeeds for longer/unlimited amounts of time. Either way, I can still do about +240-260 on the core clock and memory at +500. Decent gains overall, puts some benchmark scores that easily beats a desktop 1070 card.
-
Sorry, I meant I don't understand how @yotano21 is able to hit 1.06v, whereas our notebooks cap out at around ~0.850v. I get how GPU Boost 3.0 works
-
What overclocking program are you currently using?
-
I dont know either, I was only using the gpuz render test.
-
Oh I have no idea.. perhaps under certain loads it can go higher.. It doesn't make sense but with less GPU loads, it will use more voltage to hold higher boost clocks.. Just the way nVidia wanted it.
-
Nvidia Inspector. It's like Throttlestop for the GPU.. lol. I can't stand overly graphical programs like XTU and Afterburner.. But I do use Afterburner for the Riva Stats so I can have them on screen..Papusan likes this.
-
Can you use the gpuz render test and see if that draws a higher voltage.
-
Will do when I get home. Also give us your bios version.
-
Where is the render test? I have the latest version of Gpu-Z and don't see any option/button for it.
-
Click on the "?" and a side panel will pop up, toward the button will say "render test"
How can I know the Bios version, let me guess in the Bios?b-mac likes this. -
My voltage went up to 1.05v on that test.. and BIOS version is right there on main GPU-Z page..
-
Hmm, you were right. Pascal applies higher voltage and frequencies, but only at low load. Kind of a backwards way of doing it

Bios version is 86.04.2b.00.14
-
Not really if you think about it from a power perspective. Since the load is lower, they can use and run at a higher power state, because total power is lower than a fully loaded GPU.
In a way, it's similar to how deceptive Turbo speeds on intel CPUs work, particularly in older haswell series. It didn't matter which version you bought, they were normally limited to 47w TDP. If the load was low, they could run at like 4ghz indefinitely, but if you taxed the system and ran at full load, you quickly passed the TDP and got power limited down to 3.2ghz or something.
So yeah, I think something similar is happening with Pascal.ALLurGroceries and Diversion like this. -
I just downloaded Windows 7 today. Apparently it was a problem with the USB driver support for 3.0 like Mr.Fox stated in the previous Tornado F5 thread that recently got closed. I just applied the necessary updates to Windows 7 and I'll soon check for any telemetry or Windows 10 updates that may have gotten through the system. I'll try to do some temp benchmarks while trying to undervolt both my CPU and GPU.
I got a free accidental upgrade from Eurocom with my wireless card being a Killer AC-1535 . I was supposed to have a AC-1525 card, but it may not have been an accident due to paying a little more than usual due to Paypal's fee going against Eurocom, so I wanted to make sure that I would be able to cover the fee along with the shipping.Diversion likes this. -
Now that you're set up, congrats, and welcome to the party
Out of curiosity, why did you choose to go with the 970M? -
I was tight on money and a 970m should suit me well enough since I'm not gonna go too heavy on AA since too much of it doesn't look too good for me. I'm more sensitive to blurry images than jaggies.
Thanks @Diversion !Diversion likes this. -
Any idea why I'm only getting Fire Strike graphics scores of around 11000 with the 1070?
Edit: Its because of GSYNC isn't it? Anyway to turn it off for benchmarking?
Edit2: Found it. This thing is a beast. 100% satisfied with my purchase right now. Thanks Eurocom.Last edited: Nov 5, 2016Diversion likes this. -
The 970M is still a pretty decent 1080p card. My previous laptop with the 970M was able hold a 30% overclock (1370 MHz), and was only limited due to thermals. Now with a beefier cooler, I bet yours will be able to go 1400 MHz+
-
Got a phone call yesterday, my laptop is due to arrive Monday now!
Quite impressed with how quick cyber power have been, ordered last Saturday, so only took 5 working days to get it built and shipped. -
These processors run fairly cool when utilizing a nice undervolt. Currently -160 mV on both core and cache and my temps peak in the 60s running the XTU stress test with only about 30% fan speed. Is there any reason to underlock the iGPU or is it basically disabled at all times?
-
FYI for anyone else. I bought a Win 7 PRO key but a clean install of windows 10 works.
-Install Windows 10 and select the PRO version.
-When it asks for your key say you don't have one
-Settings > Update and Security > Activation (add your key here and youre good to go.)CaerCadarn likes this. -
I'm still running a pirated copy of 10 pro. I'm still waiting on some parts to fully do anything more, when I get the last parts I'll install a legit copy.
-
Do you set up RAID 0 in BIOS?
-
In theory, the iGPU should already be disabled... but you can try unvolting the iGPU. I'm curious if that actually does anything at all for thermals.
-
Alright, how do you guys want me to test the HDMI port to see if it's 2.0?
Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk -
Yes, it's in the BIOS settings, not a seperate BIOS.
-
Plug it into a 4K monitor and check out the nvidia control panel resolution settings.. it should say at the bottom RGB and you should be able to select 444 chroma.
Also check out this test image: http://i.rtings.com/images/Chroma-444.png
If the bottom few lines are as clear as the rest of the image, it's likely 444.
Examples of what looks like for comparison: http://www.geeks3d.com/20141203/how...-chroma-subsampling-used-with-your-4k-uhd-tv/Last edited: Nov 5, 2016 -
However, I found that the top corners of the screen bezel is slightly loose, but to the point that it's barely noticeable. Should I apply a fix to this or should I ship this back so I can get it fixed?
I'm a little worried as this should be a new laptop and I already had a case with my old Compaq laptop's bezel ripping off after I got the screen fixed while opening it. The rest of the bezel is perfectly tightened except for the top corners.Last edited: Nov 5, 2016 -
I don't see any mention of 4:4:4 anywhere in the Nvidia control panel but the bottom few lines look just as clear as the rest to me. It is set to RGB in the NCP.
Edit: Just looked at that reference link. Definitely not seeing that. 99.9% sure I'm getting 4K @ 60Hz @ Chroma 4:4:4 with just my Club3D HDMI cable.Diversion likes this. -
Hi everyone, first time poster here.
Been recently looking for a gaming laptop, and after looking around, this Tornado F5 is looking to be one of my top choices and had a few questions.
1) Are there any known plans for MSI/Eurocom to release a 17" version similar to this based on GT72VR or GT73VR?
2) Can the default LP156WF6 panel be overclocked at all like the LP173WF4 panel can?
3) Any opinions on whether upgrading the WLAN module to Intel 8260 would be worth the extra $33?
Thanks.tiliarou likes this. -

Yes we have. Please contact our Sales Team [email protected]. We ship direct to UK too daily - transit time is 2-5 days depending on location in UK. -
@Eurocom Support Did you see my earlier post about your website and NVMe RAID support?
-
Brainstorming...
Unfortunately, Kaby Lake doesn't come out until next year. Does that mean BIOS support for Kaby Lake isn't possible until after launch? Or is it possible to patch preemptively?
It's a long shot, but "unlocked vBIOS" or "vBIOS with increased power limit" would be my #1 most wanted

RAID 0/1 is supported with NVMe drives in Win 10.
-
Done, and thanks.
-
@Eurocom Support I noticed you provide iRST drivers for after installing Windows, as an EXE. What about during installation of Windows?
Also, you need to update your website, as it says NVMe RAID isn't supported. -
Do you know or see into the future a 17 inch model if possible.
