Hey, have you change maybe the Shift settings in MSI Dragon software? Maybe you're running OC?

Yes, the network card will work, I just replaced my 8265 with a Dell DW1830 and they are m.2 with the small NGFF connectors. mPCI is already old and not found in something as new as a GS63.

    Hello all,

So, my left hinge for the display broke off the back panel. :( Here's a link to something similar to what I am facing: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=280828.0

I'm thinking of fixing this myself (since it's out of warranty) with these instructions: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=299477.msg1741799#msg1741799

Has anyone else had this problem or heard of this problem?

While I have the bezel off, I was thinking of replacing the display with: https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/MSI/GS63VR STEALTH PRO-422/

    What do you all think?

I cant say i have seen that problem, not sure if there is any easier way to fix it than going to epoxy route, which makes me a little nervous, but you may not have much choice.

In regards to the screen, what you linked to doesnt provide much info. Are you looking to install a screen with a higher refresh rate or you just want an IPS screen? If so, it isnt clear that these screens will do that. I upgraded my GS63VR with a 120hz screen, pretty happy to far. But if all you want is an IPS screen, the one I took out of my GS63VR is an IPS 60hz, I have it sitting at work, looking to probably sell it actually.

Hey there folks, I was wondering if anyone could help me out with finding a recovery partition for download. I did a fresh windows install on my GS63VR, and ever since the thing crashes whenever the NVIDIA graphics card starts up, or atleast soon after. I believe I installed everything in the right order, and have tried both the most recent, and MSI recommended, GPU drivers.

The original reason for the fresh windows was due to a bunch of issues I started having after attempting to troubleshoot Monster Hunter: World blue screens. Turns out one of my RAM sticks was fried, which I have since replaced.

Any suggestions on what I could do?

If you did a fresh install, which version of OS and build did you use? The latest should be Win10 1803.

Yeah that's the RS4 which is current. Did you install and update the drivers to the latest version for all of the components in the system?

I installed all of the drivers included on the MSI page for the GS63VR, which didn't seem to work for the GPU. I tried installing the latest driver for the GPU as well, and that did not seem to correct the problem.

Hi ir1! I may have made a mistake. I just bought a new panel, it's the b156htn05.1 AUO panel insted of the Chi mei, and as expected, the screen brightness cannot be adjusted. Have you recently found a fix for this.

Or do you guys have any suggestions on how I can bring back the display adjustment?

    Thanks,
    CB

    ^Nevermind.

I could'nt stand the really bright screen as it strains my eyes soI returned that panel and replaced it with N156HHE-GA1 instead. I noticed the the AUO panel is a lot brighter but the viewing angles on the N156HHE-GA1 is much better. Overall, the AOU panel would have been the perfect replacement screen if it weren't for the brightness being at full blast.

AUO panel's are brighter, but turning them down always worked for me. Even in direct sunlight 70% was bright enough, much less indoors was better.

Are you saying that even when you reduced the brightness the AUO was still to bright?

There's no way you can reduce the brightness with the AUO panel without any modification to EDID/BIOS (see IR1's post above). Even in game settings, control panel or the Function keys, none worked. So you're pretty much stuck with a screen that's on full brightness all the time.

That's not good, you need to be able to adjust the brightness on any panel, not just AUO.

So I ordered the N156HHE-GA1 from a seller on amazon. First display had a stuck/dead pixel on the bottom left, used pixelhealer on it for bout 24 hours straight gamed on it and it got to the point where u think its a spec of dust problem was my OCD knew about it...wrote to the seller, they offered me 9 dollars to keep it i said no and amazon had them send me a replacement...it probably wa something I could easily ignore, it really wasn't bad at all, but i had a perfectly good one before and didn't want to leave it as is...so i get the replacement...same thing but in the upper left not even in the corner...again pixelhealer for 48 hours this time...again this thing does really help....fortunately after the 1st one i ordered a panel on ebay...and that one got in about 2 days after the second one and as they say three times a charm....last panel had no issue so far and been running undeadpixel to check for a couple of hours....Sucks the the QC on these is'nt as good as others...but the panel itself is plenty bright and once my colormunki did its thing the colors are very nice and accurate..viewing angles compared to my previous AUO panel aren't as good but for gaming this is a good compromise..i got the panel for 83 shipped.....My only gripe is that windows sometimes doesn't engage the color profile automatically after coming out of sleep or some other instances...i'm trying to sort that out...Also let me know if anyone needs the color profile for this...after doing that i can see the colors match both my MBP the 2016 13 inch and 2018 15 and also our HP envy 13 2017 QHD...before colors were definitely off.......I'm here if u need me!!

    Hi Eurodj101,

Would you mind sharing the color profile? Please do send me a PM. Thanks!

Regarding the dead pixel, I had the exact experience with probably the same seller on amazon. There was literally one pixel stuck in the bottom left and only shows when the background is black, but does not appear with any other colors. Didn't even bother to get a replacement since I made a mistake of securing the bezels neatly without thoroughly inspecting the panel.

    Thanks,
    CB

Pm me so i can send it your way later today...also ive swapped panels bout 5 times on this laptop already including the 2 with the pixel issue so ive learned my lesson by now.....also kindda got thehang of where to aplpy the 3m tape so i dont screw up the displays..somehting that i learned the hard way when i had to return one...a while back...also i think that seller doesnt really check their displays or they are b grade displays....the one from ebay assured me it was new and that they tested it....came packed a whole lot better also...the amazon seller does very crappy job with packing it...both had 3 bent tabs i had to straighten out before installation which could be an indicator of poor QC or slightly used or b grade panels.....also the ebay seller panels was flawless...and 20 bucks cheaper...i just did amazon due to the speed of shipping...I'll send you the profile later..it really changes things alot...pretty drastically to the point if you are sued to what out of the box colors are you think something is wrong...i swear if i hadnt been using the other laptops id think it was off..but calibration helps bring colors to a more lifelike setting...Specially for photo or videowork...I believe a profile for this diaplys coming from VA or IPS is a must as the colors will seem very off...and not washed out as that crappy panel BB sold this with but definitely off...my 2 cents

On a side note...anyone here repaste theirs...what did you use and what was the result in temperature drop thinking bout takin the mobo off and repaste the laptop....i did a 0.115 undervolt and 99% on max cpu speed in power settings and it helped...but i think if its worth dropping a bit more i can always take it apart on the weekend...i alreayd did it once to change the NVME drive...so im not shy about it..Im assuming if i end up doing it...this laptop at this stage will be as good as i can get it from where i started...maybe ill do another nvme swap to a 1tb one.

    RE2 remake? ... Yes.
Its not that good, you are forced to do both characters, under 2hrs completion a 2nd time, which is considered a 'Speed Run,' to unlock certain weapons and unlimited ammo.
There is some new DLC, but its not really that good. CapCom has run out of ideas and decent game designers, so there revising old games, put some spit and polish on them, have a big advertising campaign and have even a bigger cash flow bump.
Spend your money on something else.

Hey guys, I have a question. A friend of mine has a laptop with 1070 and I've got GS63VR. He's constantly getting better FPS in PUBG, even though everything's is virtually the same. 16GB RAM, SSDs, and 6700HQ. I've done multipple comparisons in different games and turned to conclusion that the only difference is MAX Q design and that it somehow doesnt let my GPU to unleash its real performance. Does andyone know how can I improve performance or disable max q optimizations of whatsoever. Thanks
