hi, im going to repaste CPU and GPU on my GT73vr titan pro-425US with 7820HK and GTX1080. i will replace the thermal pads as well, Do you know the thickness of the thermal pads?. 0.5mm or 1mm?. thanks

You can use 0.5mm.

thank you so much for reply, Do you know is it better to apply Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra for both CPU and GPU or Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra for CPU AND IC Diamond 7 Carat for GPU?. thanksDonald@Paladin44 likes this. -

GPU has larger surface area so it's more important on the CPU than the GPU, since smaller surface area means less heat transfer so the CPU needs as much help as it can get. LM on desktop GPU's can drop temps by about 10C, but results are less impressive on laptops. If you do put Grizzly Conductonaut on your GPU, make sure you insulate the resistors VERY securely with Kapton tape OR 3 coats of nail polish, and then apply a foam dam around the slug (with a mm to spare between the edge of the cutout foam to the slug so that the foam doesn't touch the slug or the Conductonaut. Look at Mr Fox's posts and videos for the correct way to do this, and don't take risks. You want to protect your expensive hardware. Kapton tape will protect the resistors under the GPU, but won't stop conductive balls of doom from playing bowling with your laptop PCB. And make sure you apply enough to coat the chip surface fully, but don't have it as thick as peanut butter. Pretend you're spreading honey on a sandwich, or just watch a reputable poster's video on the right amount to apply. You don't want a super thin coat, and you do not want to apply any excess as you don't want runoff.
One advantage of Grizzly Conductonaut is it shouldn't dry out as long as the HS fits well (NO TRIPOD). Other than that, IC7 is a good idea for the GPU since it should last a very long time. Phobya Nanogrease Extreme should work well for less perfect heatsink fits too as it's thicker than Kryonaut.Last edited: Sep 5, 2017hmscott, jaug1337, nader_rizk2003 and 2 others like this. -
Depends on the cooling/heatsink quality the manufacturer use, bruh
But yeah, not the big gain on laptop graphics.

thanks for every member helped me doing repaste for CPU and GPU. the results are much way better than i expected.
I used Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra for CPU and IC Diamond 7 Carat for GPU as recommended.
I changed the thermal pads as well.
Before, when i use turbo mode which overclock the CPU to 100 degrees while playing NFS, now i overclock to 4.2 and the maximum i can see is 73 or 74 degrees and if i keep the dafault overclock to 4, i see only 67 MAX.

BUT NOW

Please i need help, STEP BY STEP safe overclocking instructions for both cpu and gpu. Honestly im not lazy but i have been searching for it for hours now but no use.
I need to learn everything, safe limits and programs to use. Thank you -

1) Open XTU
2) Undervolt the CPU by -100mV and set the Processor Core ICCMax to 100A
3) Open Dragon Center > System Tuner > Turbo > Click on the wrench tool
4) Set the multipliers to 42
5) Go to the GPU Tab
6) Set the Core Clock Offset to 100 MHz
7) Set the VRAM Clock Offset to 200 MHz

Switch back to AHCI in your BIOS. Probably changed to Raid as this is most likely default for MSI.Spartan@HIDevolution and Falkentyne like this.

You're one of the lucky ones. I had to do a VERY long CMOS clear just to get the "boot loops" to kick in to complete the update (I'm assuming something to do with the backup Bios) after flashing. .313 required one manual power off for the update to work (the 4-5 boot loops), .319 required multiple, and 31B required a full CMOS Clear. Amazing... -

Mine was on raid setting, now it's on AHCI. Switched it back to IRST but shows that volume1 raid0 failed -

do i have to uninstall the dragon center to do this?
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
I've always had the Dragon Center installed my friend.Kevin@GenTechPC, Djadit and Donald@Paladin44 like this. -
I would recommend to only open dragon center when it's necessary to change a setting.
Otherwise, exit from the taskbar. -
Is there any alternate for dragon center to control fan speed.Because new dragon center limits its max overclock capacity to 4.1 GHz.Am planing to uninstall it.
-
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
You can use MSI Silent Option if you're only looking to control fan speed.
-
You can install Intel Extreme Overclocking Utility, or XTU, and leave DGC installed with 4.1ghz 41x set.
Set multiplier in XTU to 42x or up to 45x for the last GT73 I tuned, increase power settings as well so it won't drop in frequency under load.
If you play with DGC OC settings, you'll need to go back into XTU to reselect the OC profile again, and reboot.
Have fun
-
Sorry, I don't have that laptop any more, I set it up for someone else.
Intel XTU has only 2 power settings to increase, just set them up as high as they go, and you should be fine.
MSI Afterburner I didn't install, so I don't know how it will affect DGC, but I'd follow the same procedure. Set in DGC first, then override in AB, and reboot, see what's what after boot with Techpowerup GPU-Z.
Silent Option + XTU + AB might be enough to uninstall DGC and run with discrete apps for each function, but I didn't try that under Windows 10 yet.
Also, my tests were on Windows 10 before the recent mega-messup update by Microsoft, and apparently the Power Settings / Controls have been messed up, so figure out how to have CPU performance settings of 100%/100% as before in High Performance power plan too

I research about the Silent Option it doesn't compatible with my model and also have to get some suggestion form @Phoenix because he is still using MSI and also he must be aware of this new dragon center OC capping. And i also have doubt about "Current Limit Throttling" that is flashing yellow while i am benchmarking (Turbomode in DC [email protected] GHz) in XTU.
Mean while i will try u r method if its work for me or not !! Anyway thanks for the info
-
ThrottleStop can be configured like XTU and is really efficient.

MSI is reporting false VID at user default settings, to boost power and overload the VRM's, unfortunately, to try to boost the laptop power for more stable overclocks without the user doing anything, but the VID is not even being reported properly because MSI is doing cancer sorcery shenanigans. Try to run OCCT SMALL SAMPLE SIZE at 4.4 ghz and watch what happens to your taptop. It will just shut off The proper settings are hidden from the user. I posted proof in the main GT73 thread.
-
I saw @Phoenix saying taptop instead of laptop. @Papusan was saying or was making fun of SS keyboard that resulted in too much typos? Is there a new word called TapTop?Kevin@GenTechPC and Falkentyne like this.

1) I use Liquid Ultra on the CPU, that brings down the temps by 10C vs IC Diamond
2) set the CPU undervolt to -50mV
3) set the VR Current Limit to 400 in the BIOS (or 100A in Intel XTU)
4) Set the max OC Ratio to 44X in the BIOS
5) Set the Ring Ratio to 44 max / 8 min
6) Set all multipliers to 44X in BIOS or XTUVasudev and Donald@Paladin44 like this. -

I'm honestly little scared to voice any opinion w/o personally having the system. Though, I watch some threads in Clevo section. Aside from phoenix's thread in MSI, I don't watch them that often.
I have decided one thing, i am done with BGA and going full LGA whether Intel or AMD Zen doesn't matter. Maybe I will get both Liquid Cooled Ryzen TR desktop and LGA laptop from Intel w/ Prema BIOS. Not going to waste time in investing BGA's anyway. Only thing that is keeping BGA's side is because keyboards on 17" Clevo are indeed smaller and difficult to type. Maybe I'll buy a BGA like Bloodhawk did by playing smart.Last edited: Dec 26, 2017aaronne, Donald@Paladin44 and Papusan like this. -
