Does anyone know if MSI uses dual rank RAM in these laptops?
-
-
As in 2 ranks on the same stick?
Iirc its 2 single rank sticks operating in dual channel. -
The 16gb models will be 8gbx2 single rank and the 32gb models will be 16gbx2 dual rankstankitystank and NuclearLizard like this.

Does any Ge76 laptop owner know if the 32gb memory is running @ 3200 mhz or is it limited to ony 2933 mhz according to intel specs for the 10870/5h
-
Tiger lake models are getting leaked on sites already.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/wccfte...-h-processors-are-available-for-preorder/amp/ -
If that doesn't look like a breach of nda, lul
-
It dissapeared within minutes of the article going live so it was more likely some poor guy making a posting and having it accidentally go live. Lol
Though for me its good because we don't have long now.Last edited: Apr 3, 2021 -
For three different retailers to post the preorders and then pull them so quickly, this situation had to be the miscommunication of an Intel rep.NuclearLizard likes this.

yea, its still up, also if you go to the GE series on MSI's web page they have 11th gen listed but not selectable.
Kinda hoping we get to see USB4/TB4 come back on these ones.
Also the dragon sheild version come over too. would like a cool looking laptop this time. lol -
I've looked everywhere and I can't find anyone listing even 10th Gen i9 for ge76 in the US. There's a few models popping up for sites located in Asia, but not in North America. Has anyone else managed to locate one or did they just not release i9 here?
-
It sold out....and I don't think they brought many over, up in Canada we got like 3-4 across the stores of limited ones I can talk stock with.
And one guy said he had 10 he could ship from warehouse but that supplies a few hundred stores. -
Has anyone noticed much backlight bleeding on any of the Ge76's. looking at buying one from a 3rd party site and dont want to buy the minimum backlight bleed option if most panels are looking decent.
-
Hey guys,
How are cpu and gpu temps on this one after a long session of a heavy game?
Did you undervolt your cpu?
Thanks -
Ended up getting one of these machines. never had fiddled around in throttlestop before. but in dragon center currently have a 100 core clock to gpu and around 130 to the VRAM core clock boost OC's atm. What type of undervolts are you guys doing for an i7-10870h. was messing around with -.60mv on the core and cache and reducing the turbo ratio limits a bit.
-
The GE76 with Intel's Tiger Lake already leaked when preorders accidently went up too early a week or so ago. You might as well wait for those at this point.NuclearLizard likes this.
-
Amen. Also supposedly asus leaked a tuff 15/17, shipping around may 10th on Amazon i think. So we might not be waiting much longer....assuming everyone is dropping at the same time.

MSI GE76 Raider –Light'em Up
Tiger Lake refresh is up. MSI is bringing 1440p screens finally, in 165Hz and 240Hz flavors. PCI-E 4.0 and HDMI 2.1 included.exmeaguy and NuclearLizard like this. -
Not showing any for my country yet. =/
-
The 1440p SKUs aren't available in the US yet.
-
Yea, there are no SKU'S at all for Canada yet. I hope tomorrow brings something for us.
Edit: well that was a bust, all marketing wank and no info. I'm gonna write this down as a paper launch.
Edit2boogaloo: whelp, I managed to track one down in the states and order it from HID with an Evereki titan and the better cooling paste. Fingers crossed it shows up.Last edited: May 17, 2021 -
Hi
Dose anybody created USB recovery flash drive for his GE76?
If so, I would be very grateful for posting those files (from USB) on file hosting site like:
File sharing and storage made simple
My GE76 got stuck on boot loop and i didn't make recovery USB.
Thank you. -
Just download Window ISO from MS to do the repair ...but might be overkill to get the whole DVD
-
Anyone got 64gb ram kits for this? Ballistix 64gb kit cl16 seems to be the fastest but it crashes my computer. Only when I add voltage +125mv does it sort of work but I can't use the second slot of the nvme or it crashes and memtest64 fails on this. I think it is because it's a 1.35v?
-
So I replaced the stock memory with some HyperX cl20 32gb kit and the aida score isn't any better than the stock ram:
Any ideas? -
Hello all! New here and happy to join as a MSI GE76 10UH owner with a 3080 Mobile.
Aparently MSI released a new VBIOS for the GE76 11UH (Intel 11th gen) with increasing the 3080 from 155w to 165w. They dont plan to release if for the 10th gen GE76 :-(
Could someone of you, who installed this new released VBIOS, extract the .rom with GPU-Z and upload it for me?
Thx so much in advance! -

Thanks, aparently, flashing doesnt work with NVFLASH. any idea how to flash it? I dragged and dropped the ROM file into nvflash.exe
-
Are you using the -6 option?
-
No, is it save to do it that way if its not supported by drag and drop?
-
Never done drag and drop as all guides usually tell you to use command line.
-
Is the new 11UH GE76 (11800H, RTX3080) worth a 200$ difference on the last gen GE76 10UH (10870H, RTX3080)?
Thanks -
Depends if you think the variations are worth it. I think you get faster refresh on some models for the panel, newer CPU ( the 11800h is pretty damn good) and thunderbolt on the 11th gen plus pcie gen 4 nvme on the first slot.
-
I personally would pay extra for the technology that comes with the 11th-gen Intel platform, like access to PCI-E 4.0 and the boosted CPU performance.
You only get one chance to invest in the components of a gaming laptop (RAM and storage aside), so more money added to the pot upfront to increase the longevity on the backend is usually a wise spend.Last edited: Jun 14, 2021seanwee and NuclearLizard like this. -
thats why I waited for this one for mine. The 10th gen would have served me just as well but in the long run I think the 11th gen is gonna hold up longer especially when they start throwing things in like Velocity boost or whatever microsoft is calling the tech that allows GPU's to pull directly from storage.
-
The DirectStorage API, and Nvidia is leveraging it with RTX I/O.
They say it should be backward compatible with PCI-E 3.0, but it is obviously designed to take full advantage of the ridiculous SSD speeds of the 4.0 interface.
This is the answer to the Playstation 5's I/O solution, which is also PCI-E 4.0 based.NuclearLizard likes this. -
Yea, plus if I am remembering correct a lot of the 30/6000 series cards are pushing near the PCIE3.0 limit and I think dumping SSD's and overhead on that might tip it. so a bit better to grab the 4.0 IMO.
-
It worked fine with the command line and the new VBIOS is installed on my 10th gen MSI GE76, also showing 165w now. Thanks again!
I only have on big problem now:
My external monitor is not recognized as an HDMI output anymore, it shows a DVI connection instead.
In nVidia Control Panel it also shows the picture as a DVI cable is connected instead of my HDMI.
Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance! -
Only fix is to revert back to your original vbios. Could be because of the new vbios but not sure why it would change the hdmi to dvi. Maybe try the mini displayport instead of hdmi?
-
Ok So far I've done a few tests with different RAM and AIDA64. They all come out with the same results.
The sticks I've tested so far:
HyperX 3200 32gb kit
Gskill 3200 32gb kit
Zeus 3200 64gb kit
Stock 3200 32gb kit
Ballistix 3200 64gb kit (i think the sticks are bad as they fail memtest)
All these come back with about 40k read and write and 100+ns for latency. Currently on latest BIOS so wondering if anyone else is seeing this issue. Thanks. -

Latency is awful because 3200MHz runs in Gear 2 by default. You need an unlocked BIOS to change it to Gear 1.MagillaGorilla and raz8020 like this. -
I have entered the unlocked bios but what do you mean by gear? Where do I find this in the unlocked BIOS? Just to be sure you mean the right CTRL, Right SHIFT, Left ALT F2 command right?

Idk where exactly it is in the BIOS, sorry. Maybe try looking in the memory tuning or overclocking sections. -
ahh ok, i'll see if this exists for laptops.

Are you able to adjust the memory voltage on your GE76 by any chance? His GP66 ( 2.38kg ) doesn't let him according to his video and he can't adjust the memory multiplier beyond 24x. He is able to adjust the timings but not sure if he can bclk up on the memory clock. -
Yea voltage and multiplier can be adjusted. I've tried 1.35v for the ballistix and I've also tried 25x multiplier for the hyperx
-
The gear thing has changed names and changing it to 1 did improve my latency and read and write speeds a bit.

I want to purchase the Crucial Ballistic 32GB kit. Although I just want 32GB stable and be able to get a bit of extra from it.
