This generation of P750 is considerably louder than the last gen because clevo changed the fans with fewer blades. So I will believe 16L1 is quieter.
fun fact: 16L1's max fan speed is about 4000rpm while the fan can actually reach 7000rpm but EC limit that.
as comparison, p750 max fan speed is about 5000rpm

Wow! Those are crazy good temps for a torture test :O Is that undervolted? I wonder why that reviewer got such high temps.
-
-
Yes undervolted to -165 on core and cache and slightly less on system agent and analog. Even at stock voltage it's still around high 70s which is very cold for a laptop.
-
Because of the shared pipes on gpu and cpu so the highest I've seen is 83c on gpu and about 78 CPU.hmscott likes this.

Can you use hwinfo64 with logging on to get the 1-2 second samples?
It's tough to tell the exact temperature from that jagged graph
You would want to exit any other monitoring programs with hwinfo64 running, like AIDA64, XTU, MSI Afterburner, etc - only one program taking samples at a time.
Also, do a Fire Strike / Heaven / Valley run while logging.
It would be fun to see the CPU / GPU numbers right at the end of the run as a screen shot, alongside each other. Along with the Excel format hwinfo64 logfile.
I don't recommend a p95 + Furmark, or even Furmark alone

Havn't been able to compare the barebone with GT62VR. While idle and surfing temps are around 35-45. This is with 400-500 rpm on CPU fan, sometimes CPU is completly off. GPU fan is off all the time.hmscott likes this.

My unit enroute to Poland MSI service centre.Reseller refused to return money or exchange the unit for the brand new one after 10 days of ownership...no comment.my last deal with them.
Any experience with TAT on the warranty service? They are supposed to change CPU fan only...hopefully.

Which reseller would that be?

Hey guys I just got the MSI GT62VR 4K version with the I7 6820HK and 1070.
Im not the most technical person but Im a bit worried about my temps. On idle the temps for both CPU/GPU are around 35 degrees Celsius when running in ECO mode on dragon centre. When putting the laptop on comfort or sport in dragon centre the GPU temperature remains steady on idle but the CPU tends to spike up and down between 40 and 65 degrees when not really doing anything. Tried playing starcraft 2 and witcher 3 and the max GPU temp was 67 degrees but the CPU temperature went up to 91 degrees.
So my question really is that normal? 91 degrees seems quite high for the CPU. Gaming at 2560x1440 on ultra settings at 60fps when in sport mode. Reducing down to comfort cuts the frames in half. So Im not sure if there is an issue with the laptop or Im just being paranoid? Its also sitting on a cooling pad. Just worried as I had a laptop with a 580m a few years back and it burned out after 2 years. Its a lot of money to spend for it not to last longer than 2 years!
Any advice would be appreciated! Thankshfm likes this. -
Your GPU temps are great. As for your CPU, you might want to look into undervolting. Here's one guide to get you started. For even more information, look for "undervolting using xtu"AsadM likes this.

Hey man thanks very much for that tip, I'll give that a shot tomorrow and see how it goes!

I experienced the same temp jumps on so called idle state, though you never know what causes this short term peaks and temp jumps.Try to create MSI USB installation drive, check whether it works, if yes then create clean windows usb on other usb.Put the necessary drivers on.Like NW driver.Windows should not have the problem to detect the NIC but you never know.
INSTALL clean Win and monitor the peaks. If persists, then probably incorrect CPU pasting...Maybe last resort, BIOS update but i don't think it can change something.

Czech/Slovak reseller ... Will share the feeling once the piece is returned from the service. Will also share the warranty service satisfaction level and TAT for my case.

Hi thanks I'll try that too, think it needs a clean install with all the bloatware on it. Did your clean install sort out your tempersture spikes? And how is it on gaming? Thanks for the advice! I already updated the bios but it didn't make a difference
-
I'm extremely jealous.
91 CPU sounds OK but definitely on the higher side. Within spec. My cpus have nearly always been high 80s to 90 under load. Never seen a failure. I'd take a 91 degree cpu over loud fans any day.
Also, does your GT62 with the 4K panel support G-sync?

Thanks for the info! Puts my mind at ease, just worried about it failing after a short period of time.
It's defo a really nice laptop and other than the temp worries really happy with it! I try and forget how much I spent on it or I'll end up crying! -
Does your unit support G-Sync?
Sent from a 128th Legion Stormtrooper 6P -
No unfortunately the 4k model doesn't support it. It's a shame as I wrestled with the decision but decided to go with 4k to make the most of the 1070. Never used a g-sync monitor so hopefully not knowing how good it is wont make me regret my decision!hfm likes this.
-
That pretty much confirms why it's not available in the US. Man hard decision.
I'll wait it out and see if a 4K panel eventually gets approved.

Quick questions for the owners :
1. How is the screen on the 1080p G-Sync? Any backlight bleed, tint, etc. ?
2. Any known problems that I should look out for?
Thanks.

I feel burned.. I paid $300 more for 16gb more ram?!? Lol.ThePerfectStorm likes this.

1. No bleed. On both units I had neither one had any sort of discernible bleed. MSI has applied some sort of adhesive around the bezel and screen most likely in an effort to remove bleed. Its a very nice screen.
2. The space bar issue not registering in the bottom/far right bottom corner was the issue that I had on both laptops and diversion has also noted the issue. This does not affect gaming, but can be an annoyance with typing. The keyboard seemed to break in over time and get better, but it never completely went away. There are guides on how to fix the issue as it seems to have been over more than one generation of steel series keyboard.ThePerfectStorm likes this. -

I've had two GS63VRs and one GT62 and a 16L1(2) on the way.. These all share the same 1080p LG panel. I actually really enjoy these panels, good color quality and super bright.
They all had varying levels of BLB in certain areas.. Roughly all the same though.. The bottom right corner seems to have the most BLB.. it's really more IPS glow hot spots than actual BLB though. It's not too bad and doesn't seem to affect dark games very much.ThePerfectStorm likes this. -
Impatience always kills me.. I was thinking that only the 1999 versions would get the 256gb ssd but guess not :/ Ahhh well.. I don't mind taking one for the team, i'm helping a friend out by giving him a discount on this GT62VR when the Eurocom version comes in.
-
This waiting on my 16L1 is killing me.. No update from Eurocom since early this week. @Diversion have you heard anything? I guess I could have emailed for an update but I trusted the process and hoped it was all going to plan.
Diversion likes this. -
I've been communicating with Garry at Eurocom and he says he expects it to ship to me this coming Wednesday. What's the latest on your order? I think what Eurocom, XoticPC, and CyberPowerPC probably get the barebones to their shop and put the components in and bench them for a while to make sure it's all settled.. The actual 16L1(2) boxes come with the laptop mostly assembled with 8gb memory and mobo in place.. That's it. The heatsinks/fans are in a seperate box. The resellers put them together for us with our configs and bench them to make sure they don't fail/overheat.
We're getting IC Diamond on our units.. Debating if I'm going to repaste or not.. If I de-lid the 6700K then obviously I will have to repaste both gpu and cpu. -
I concur, this current GT62VR needs the keyboard fix i've seen people doing in other threads.. I just have been trying to get in the habit of hitting the space bar harder than usual. Outside of that, amazing machine overall. I only wish the keyboard backlighting turned off when the LCD turns off after my 10 minute sleep timer.

Also, if I'm willing to turn down settings later, will the 1070 last me 3 years at 1080p gaming?
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalkhmscott likes this. -
Absolutely.. It's well under thermal control with no throttling problems in anything i've played..ThePerfectStorm and hmscott like this.

The 1070 is a 1080p monster. G-Sync will also help to keep things smooth below 60fps as the GPU begins to age. I would expect you to get more than 3 years of decent gaming out of that 1070 @1080p.hmscott and ThePerfectStorm like this.

Debating whether to go with a large conventional SSD (500gb 850 Evo) or going with an M.2 NVME. Do you think I would notice the performance difference for gaming?
Something I am considering is the additional heat these NVME drives are putting out. They throttle themselves and dynamically adjust performance to keep from frying themselves. That much heat has to go somewhere and it will directly into my 16L1 chassis heating up the rest of the laptop. Thoughts? -
Load times for sure.. Now that the new Samsung 960 EVO/Pro are coming out.. I hope to see the 950 Pro's to drop and plan to get two of them for Raid0 on our new units

since there is only 1 sata slot in 16L1 what do you guys plan to insert? A 2TB hdd for storage or a 512gb ssd for speed?hmscott likes this.

Mine should be arriving next Thursday, but I have rushed shipping, so my hope is earlier...
On my other Eurocom system, I redid the thermal paste (also using IC diamond) and saw a 3C decrease in temps. At least with that system, they were a bit too generous with how much paste they applied. -
When did you put your order in? Mine went in this past Wednesday morning.hmscott likes this.
-
I put in my order several weeks ago. I may or may not have spent the last few months stalking Eurocom's website, waiting for the F5 Tornado product page to go up... Unfortunately, they ran into a GTX 1070 shortage, so my order was delayed until now.hmscott likes this.

Well then do you know when they released the order?hmscott likes this.

Eurocom told me when they ordered the barebones kit from MSI basically.. So it takes a few days to get to Eurocom and then Eurocom spends a few days assembling it and testing it. The whole process is about 7-9 days if Eurocom is good.. but I don't know what kind of situation they are in.
I did go with Eurocom because I was able to get the entire unit fairly cheap vs the other resellers.hmscott likes this. -
Ordered a Samsung EV0 850 500gb traditional SSD. I've been using them in my desktop for a couple years and never had a single issue. I trust the reliability and I really don't think I'll be missing much. I can grab a NVME ssd later as prices fall. I have to keep reminding myself this isn't my main rig and I can't get too carried away.
hmscott likes this. -
Ah I see. From what I have read, Eurocom has plenty of barebones on hand. However, they ran into a GPU shortage (I guess demand was a bit higher than expected). In fact, my laptop was already assembled last week, but they were waiting for GTX 1070s to arrive. They only got a new batch late this week, so they're probably frantically putting systems together, and should be shipping soon!hmscott likes this.
