I am already doing this right now, preparing a usb stick with windows 10 on it using the media creation tool, on my older laptop. But will this free me from the safe mode loop? I can access the built-in recovery media on the SSD but as soon as it formats and restarts to start windows setup, i get the safe mode error "Cannot install windows in safe mode, please restarts etc..."
Will using a bootable usb stick solve this issue? If not then I wonder what else to do.

If you are having problems, It may be much faster to reinstall Windows and start over with a fresh system. See also https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...cant-fix/0d305b89-3088-432e-93d7-60a948ef5208 or Google more results you can try.ronferri likes this.

I managed to go back in the built-in recovery process and bypassed the safeboot loop. Here's how:
1. I created a win10 bootable usb stick
2. I pressed F3 on boot and chose the option that allows recovering an external specific image other than the built-in one on the SSD, so I chose the USB drive
3. I restarted with the USB as the bootable drive and I launched command prompt from the USB (Not Windows setup)
4. I switched the command prompt line from X: (the USB Drive) to C: (The SSD with the windows built in recovery)
5. To disable booting in safe mode from the SSD and break out of the loop, I executed the command: bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot
6. I restarted with the SSD as the boot drive and launched the factory reset process which now proceeded normally with no safe mode error.
I will now follow Phoenix clean install guide to the letter and will not launch the stupid stupid stupid windows update until the very very end and after i create a backup image.
Hope this helps future owners who happen to be from the 0.0001% unlucky people like me.

Nvidia driver is in the download queue of windows update. How do i prevent it from getting downloaded and installed? I already activated all the blocking techniques in Phoenix's clean install guide to prevent windows update from automatically downloading device drivers but it is not working i guess...
UPDATE: I killed the win update service from Admin tools but now i dont even get the windows updates. How do i prevent only the device drivers from being delivered by windows? -
Thanks, I just configured it to hide all updates from Intel, Realtek, Synaptic, SteelSeries, and Nvidia. It is applying the changes now so we'll see.
I have a low-responsiveness issue with the built-in windows update service...If I update to the anniversary edition from this Microsoft link which installs the Win 10 Update Assistant for me (there is an Update Now button visible to me above the download tool button), the update is super fast (download + installation). See screenshot below, downloading at 6MB/s.
However, if i use the built in windows update service under Settings, it takes forever to identify few updates at a time, and forever to download them, and forever to install them, and sometimes it freezes. The download size is really small for the most part.
Why is that and how can I speed up windows update like it should be?

I don't know mate, i upgraded to Anniversary update the same day i got the laptop and it went smooth. Are you using any Antivirus which is not Windows Defender or anything to disable telemetry in w10? Some people had issues with that. Personally i'm using SpyBot AntiBeacon and i never had issues with windows update
-
i disabled telemetry in the registry (using O&O app) and blocked it via windows firewall. could that disrupt windows update?
Last edited: Feb 19, 2017 -
Depends on what you disabled but mine was just pure assumption, probably people in the Windows boards know about that better than me

Set a Connection as Metered on Windoze X (close the door) and rather use this tool below if you really need patches from Windoze update
Windows Update MiniTool is a free alternative to the standard Windows Update, it puts you in control of updates by allowing you to search, install and block Windows updates as you please https://tr.im/206AFLast edited: Feb 19, 2017ronferri likes this. -
Another update on wifi adapter disappearing from device manager: i might have fixed it by disabling fast startup thingy in powerplan settings...
Two days and still no sign of that bug, ty microsoft for making me go nuts for weeks. If this turns out to be the solution i'm gonna applaude on myself for the first time ever lmao.Last edited: Feb 19, 2017Papusan likes this. -
Guys, while playing Battlefield 3 on this brand new GT62VR, and 1 hour into smooth and normal game play, my screen started blinking every 15 seconds or so. Temps are 66 for gpu and 72 for CPU, no overclocking, and using the Nvidia driver from MSI website 375.63. Here is the video i recorded of the glitch, the blinking happens twice in the video once at second 24 then at second 39.
Help!

That looks like gsync issue, i also had it on some games and usually disabling and enabling it again from nvidia panel fixes it.
I'm on 378.66 drivers but it happened also on previous versions. I also did some researches and there are people with different laptops who experienced those flashes, sadly, till now nvidia hasn't managed to fix it. Meh.DukeCLR likes this. -
Hi Guys,
Is there any reseller where I can get a version of the MSI GT62VR with a 120 hz screen. The fact that the screen is 60 hz is pretty much the only reason I'm holding back from buying this laptop.
Thanks for the help
-
I think there's no variant of the gt62vr, the gt72vr has it though.
Bear in mind that the 120hz is a TN panel not an IPS one so it is kind of a bummer

Is there that big a difference between IPS and TN ? I've seen some posts talking about how pretty the TN is too.

Go look at the Eurocom Tornado F5 or the EVOC 16L-G-1080 - they are the same laptop, and they have a 120hz screen option.

Update for Killer E2200/E2400 + Killer Wireless Suite released (nomore in beta)
http://www.killernetworking.com/driver-downloads/item/e2200-e2400-wireless
Changelog says:
I'll wait for the drivers only version instead of installing the suite again, it's not a must have imho.
For those who had my same issue of wifi adapter disappearing, i fixed it by disabling fast startup/quick boot (i'm not sure of how it's spelled into English menu since i'm using my mother lang on my system) and YES, IT WORKS! See, i'm happy after spending 3 weeks on a stupid issue which was caused by windows, probably because if you have that option enabled it doesn't perform a real shutdown when you turn the laptop off. Hopefully i won't have to deal with this issue anymore nor buy an intel card =)
ps: boot time difference won't be affected much, in my case it used to be around 4,4 - 5,1 seconds. Now it takes 5 exact seconds (in reality the difference is zero, bios fastboot will still work) and at least i'm sure everything is loaded properly.Last edited: Feb 20, 2017 -
Well, the Eurocom Tornado f5 doesn't have a 120 hz option, just a 4k one. And the EVOC is way out of my budget due to having a 1080.
I guess I'm gonna go with a Clevo or Alienware then, thanks for the help.

Hi,
Is there a way to verify if G-SYNC is working properly?
Im suspecting it doesnt work, although I have a "v" checked in the Nvidia control panel. -
Or Google up Notebookcheck.net and see the reviews of AWbook 15R3
Read as well the comments section in the bottom of the review
-
yes, go to G-Sync settings, click on "Display" in the top menu and select the g-sync indicator, you should see it on the left of your screen if it's working.
or you could try this http://www.nvidia.com/coolstuff/demos#!/g-sync ;
If g-sync is not working try disabling and enabling it again, i have noticed that the driver for it is just crap (random black screens) thanks to nvidia monkeys. Keep also in mind that with v-sync + gsync enabled, gsync will only work when the framerate is below 60 (if your monitor is 60hz). Personally i'm using fast sync in almost every old game i got and then limit the framerate to 60 where i don't need more than that using RivaTuner.barakred likes this. -
So, I just went up there and checked it. So my list is now reduced to 2 names. Just the Clevo P650HS-G and the Asus GL 502VS - DS71 are left standing.
Whats the BGABook you mention in your status thingy ? And whats so bad about it ? -
ThePerfectStorm Notebook Deity
I would advise that you go read the Asus' owners lounge - I remember people reporting high temperatures.
BGA is soldered processors and GPUs - many people hate them for the fact that they are impossible to repair/upgrade - you need to replace the entire motherboard if the CPU fails, for example. @Papusan will explain further.

hi,
i have a problem in GT62VR 6RD Dominator gtx 1060 6GB , G-sync is not activated (i don't have g-sync option in Nvidea settings) ,and i cannot install true color (while installing is says : this system is not supported)!
all my drivers are updated ,included bios / EC / Vbios
windows is installed in UEFI...
i have contacted the support but they did not know how to fix the problem ! they told me to uninstall nvidea drivers unsing DDU and reinstall it , but it didn't work !
Full name product

any help ? thank you -
If nothing worked i'd try to get a new one from where you bought it since the laptop is capable of g-sync...

I remember reading somewhere on this forum, may have been the GT73 thread, that changing one of the monitor settings in windows fixed this issue.
@Shehary does this ring a bell?
I would second this, it should have arrived with it enabled, if it didn't it may have been a returned lemon so send it back if you are still within the window. If it disappeared because of something you did ten try a factory reset.hmscott likes this. -
i have bought it from a friend that used it , i did not check if g-sync was detected when i received it , i did a fresh new installation of win 10 , i have erased the existing system and installed a fresh new one ... -
Try to change to monitor resolution.
-
Could someone with the 7700hq gt62vr tell me what the PCIe SSD is please?
-
i did it but nothing special has happened :/
-
You could try the fix some other guy used on his GT72VR when gsync wouldn't show up.
I would try and essentially reflash your vBIOS and then clean install latest drivers with DDU.DukeCLR likes this. -
Hey guys I received my gt62vr with the new 7700hq processor.
I'm getting around to 75-85c with the cpu under full load (undervolted by - 130mV with Intel xtu) and around 80c in the Gpu (1070) are those temps alright?
I don't have any throttle with the cpu and the Gpu throttles a bit when teaching the 84c. A friend of mine told me that those are normal temps but I'm a bit worried about the damage on the long run.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalkhmscott likes this. -
Are those temps under heavy benchmarks test or when gaming?
You could try to make your own fan curve in the dragon center or HWInfo. -
Those are good temps, the Pascal GPU's run warm, you could re-paste them and find little or no benefit, so I would be happy with what you have and enjoy gaming
You could get a laptop cooler, or just prop up the rear higher than the front to take advantage of heat convective cooling with something simple to hold up the rear (don't block the vents).
You can tune your fan curve in MSI Dragon Gaming Center to be more active to keep temps down when gaming - it's up to you if you want to spend the extra time making fan curves, but current temps seem good enough.
Using hwinfo64 log some gaming sessions, then read the logfile to see where your GPU temp / load runs over the course of the game - you should see a few high peaks but mostly lower temps on average.
Most important, enjoy your new laptop and forget about the worries
-
These are my temps after an hour and half of Bioshock infinite

somebody wrote this yet: Windows reinstall may be insufficient, have you reset BIOS setup [ reset default ] before the install?
Also have you installed the MSI branded factory image or have you tried to put clean Windows 10 from MS site on?

I've got older CPU serie: 6820HK and the following temps after the Gelid GC3 Extreme application during WOT session:
UV: -150 on CPU and Cache, at fixed 36X, No Thermal, Power or Current Throttle.
Power Short/long Turbo reduced to ~80W.
FULL details + HQ AA:
CPU cores in range : 56-60C
GPU: oscillates at 59-60 C
WOT is well known for its "multi-core CPU load balance" , so it's probably invalid indicator for somebody, but the truth is that I had CPU/GPU at 75-80C levels before the Gelid.
http://9gag.com/gag/aNKXPX3/cpu-usage-in-world-of-tanks
I've not tried the other games so far, but I plan to check the temps on Battlefield 1 since it is for free this weekend on Origin and waiting for ME Andromeda of course

BF1 with DX12 ON, Ultra settings
1 hour session
CPU avg: 60c
CPU max:78c
GPU avg:60c
GPU max:68C
FPS:60
Sent from mTalk -
How did you cap the 60 FPS? RTSS, Vsync or in game setting?
-
with the tilde key (~).
In the console we have to type the command “perfoverlay.drawfps 1”
Sent from mTalk -
Doesn't that just activate the OSD? What I meant to ask is if you are setting a max FPS with the in game settings or using vsync? I have been trying out various setting to reduce input lag I'm curious how you went about it.
-
The truth is that temps went up to 80 this morning for GPU. Initial levels were not so wide area level, Probably.
I use Nvidia VSYNC on only. No frame limiter within the game.
Somebody reported black screen flickers during gaming before. I had the same problem when I reset the XTU to default profile and Turbo power/Short were set to some ridiculous levels like 3.xW or something.
When I pushed it back to 200W~ , then it's gone.

I haven't messed with any voltages yet but suspect I will when warmer weather arrives. On my laptop I found that if I limit the FPS with RTSS and turn Vsync and Gsync off I get smooth play with minimum input lag, On my desktop I have to keep gsync on for smooth play even though I have the FPS pegged at the refresh rate of 144 but with Vsync off the lack of input lag has helped my KD ration tremendously. It screen dependent so results may vary.

no i think i did not reset bios setting in installation , and i have use i clean win 10 from ms website

Hi guys is there a way to have GT62VR only run with discrete graphic card? I saw GT73VR has a convenient switch graphic button near keyboard but it seems GT62VR doesn't have that option so I'm wondering. I'm debating on which model to get and this will be a factor for me. In the past some of the software I use always auto run on integrated graphic card and I had to keep disable it through bios so the discrete graphic can be used for better performance.
@Phoenix would also love to hear your opinion on this.
