How many fps i can playa dota2 and csgo thats my games maybe single 980m can push over 100fps?
-
Take a look at this:
https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/landingpages/FangbookIII_extreme/
Is this even legal? They took MSI's product and rebranded it as their own. How can this be? -
Sh!p it's cheaper too
-
I suspect because it does not come with that 2-year warranty from the real MSI? I don't know. -
There's no way that can be legal! Literally the SAME computer!
-
Yeah, something fishy is going on there. I'll give a call to MSI tomorrow, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
-
Seems like a whitebook, like a lot of the barebones that MSI sell. There is one for most models. I am not surprised. They usually come with stock 1 year warranty, less features and less support (because you would need to get support from cyberpowerpc.
Their price simply reflects that they have no SSDs and less warranty it seems. -
But are they allowed to take MSI's computer and slap their own logo on top of it like that?
-
Cyberpowerpc always had msi barebones look at gt70 gs70 now gt80 msi or Chinese company that sells barebones faith msi sells other people either because msi buys them without exclusivity or because they no longer impose exclusivity do not think it illegal something that involves a juicy lawsuit
-
Yeah, MSI sells them like that I suppose. Their Fangbook Edge laptop is just an MSI GS series laptop. Medion's Erazer is an MSI GT60/70 laptop. Etc.
I suppose there is not much to change in the GT80, just remove the dragon mark on the top cover and thats it. -
Hello, first time poster here. I am looking at getting the GT80-094 since my budget is 2.5k-2k. I have had a hard time finding benchmark information on this version of the GT80 to compare it to the rest of the line, can any of you help me with that?
Also since I haven't really seen anything on the 094 version yet is there any reason that they are not being represented other than people wanted the 980m sli?
I want to be ale to play in 4k will this version have a issue with that?
thank you -
I haven't seen any tests on the 965s either but I asking them to play games at 4k or 4 times the resolution of 1080p will depend upon what games. It might play some very light games but it would not play your newer demanding titles at 60fps. Even the 009 high end model would struggle dearly at times. 4k gaming is very demanding and even very high end desktop hardware is needed to obtain smooth framerates.
Hopefully another user or vendor can answer better with some testing results.
-
The main games i play usually rotate between D3, WOW, and LOL. I do want to play Wither and I understand that I would not be able to paly that at max setting son 4k
-
Hmmm, I can test D3 (diablo?) and LoL. Those I think there won't be mayor issues in 4K. I don't know about Wither.
-
How do you even set your settings to 4k? Is that just another name for "Ultra"? I'm playing Skyrim with the high texture resolution mods and enhanced graphics throughout the cities, with all the graphics set to the highest possible setting, or does that game even offer 4K graphics?
-
No no, 4K is the resolution, that for PC is typically is 3840 x 2160. I meant I played at 4K because I have a 4K TV with such a resolution. Otherwise the max we can go natively is 1080p on the panel.
-
Ahhhh I see! Yeah my rig only gets up to 1080. I haven't seen an option to go any further than that.
-
Hi I have been a GT 80 Titan 009 owner for a little over a month. After about 2 weeks I started to hear a clicking noise which seems to be coming from the hdd. I have decided to replace the hdd after some research and not feeling comfortable sending the computer to msi. Replacing the hdd from the top panel seems to be very easy as I already ordered the replacement hdd. The problem is I have looked all over the and cannot find any info on how to turn off or remove the internal battery. In a few places I have read that you do not remove the internal battery in this computer. If that is true how do you do any upgrades on this computer? For a gaming laptop that is suppose to be easy to "upgrade" I cannot figure out what to do. Anyone know what I should do and/or can send me in the right direction? All help or suggestions appreciated.
-
You don't need to pull the battery to replace the HDD or add memory, just make sure its completely shut down and not in sleep/hibernate.
If you ever need to unplug the battery for some other reason, you have to remove the back plate. The "easier" end of the battery cable to pull is under the heat pipes. It's doable with a small pair of pliers, just make sure not to scratch anything.
If the original HDD is still functional for the most part, make sure and use BurnRecovery to make an dvd/backup image of your recovery partition, since that's on your HDD.GTVEVO likes this. -
FYI New GT 80 models scheduled for release 6/7 with Broadwell CPUs. Newegg shows 6/7.

5950hq assuming to replace the 4980hq
57000hq assuming to replace the 4720hq
I am ready to see what type of performance bump if any is available. -

MSI's new Intel 5th Gen line-up can be seen HERE. At 14nm (vs. 4th Gen 22nm), sure to be more efficient, ergo better temps, but lets not forget other goodies just on the horizon..... new GPU, chipset, DDR4, SATA lanes, etc. My next flagship is sure to be AWESOME!

when will the models with ddr4 be released

For now, I have to be stupid about these things, but the observant can read between the lines. As with all new tech, NDA's abound, so no point asking, until official announcements are issued. Leaks and rumors are also sure to surface...... but can you believe them? LOL!

Wow, its the same price too. And I just ordered a 009 last week.
A single tear rolls down my face today. -
I wouldn't get too worried yet as I remember reading adverts stating broadwell cpus only showing small advantages and losses in compute performance by power.
-
I'm sure. But regardless, I feel cheated. It's the same price!!!
I just paid nearly 4k for a laptop and its ALREADY outdated before I even received it in the mail. -
Where did u order from? If u have not recieved it, deny it and don't accept delivery. You will get refunded if your order was placed from a retailer.
-
Ordered from best buy, it's a marketplace item though. Not sure if signature is required for delivery. What happens if I refuse?
-

I wouldn't loose sleep over this. New tech is always just around the corner, and the reign of current tech is short lived. Though the new processors will bring improvements, your -009 is still top-tier, and a bad-@$$ gaming notebook. Even if you refuse delivery of the -009, opting to the latest Gen-5 model, shortly newer tech will follow yet.
Enjoy!

I'll try not to lose any sleep, lol. I understand it is definitely top tier, but it's the same price. That's the bothersome part for me.
-
I would honestly contact the marketplace seller and see what their return policy is for a delivery that can't be accepted. It will not get to your hands, you can call the carrier and they will send it right back noting you did not accept the item and it should be refunded. Double check but in every case I have researched its a standard policy so hopefully with best buy marketplace items too.
FYI signature doesn't matter so if you decide to do so call the carrier and leave a note if you will not be at the delivery location before delivery. -

Okay, thank you very much. Only problem is, Idk if best buy will list the newer version. I have a best buy card and I get financing and points from them, so finding another seller isn't really an option.
-
Ya if you aren't paying cash (I should say debit) and have to limit your seller options I understand. Might take a while to get the new model into those sellers, the good news is you won't be disappointed with it once its in your hands. Enjoy

So, MSI updated the CPU model to 5th gen core i7, any particular difference is gonna make?
-
How does the MSI upgrade program work for this laptop? Any news on that?
Does it include the CPU? -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Performance differences are yet to be seen by enthusiast, but the 14nm lithography (vise 4th Gen 22nm) speaks to much more efficiency, ergo lower temps...... which makes me smile.
@Zeroblue:
The upgrade program is for GPU's only..... not CPU's, as they are embedded.
-
Sigh, alright. I will probably just settle with the 009. Other people can try the 5th gen.
If an actual problem arises and I have to return the laptop for a refund, then I will switch over to the 5th gen. -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Sounds like a plan!
-
I heard there is heat control problem on these higher tdp processors, does Intel handle it or the overheat just simply bs?
-
Yes and the GPU upgrade program will also be available for GT80 when the time comes.
-
Speaking in Canadian dollars...
If each gpu costs $700 ,and of course I have to pay Gentech or whomever to do the upgrade ( doing it myself may interfere with warranty?)
Then the upgrade would be over $2000.
If i sell my GT80 in two years for $1900, then I can just pay another $2000 and have the brand new latest MSI super laptop.
The upgrade seems a bit silly to me..i dunno -

There isn't a heat issue with regard to Intel spec, and it's up to the notebook manufacturer to develop adequate cooling solutions. To this end, MSI has done an excellent job. Keep in mind, by design, CPU temps will generally run higher in SLI notebooks, and thermal control becomes more a challenge with the top processors. That said, the GT80 w/4980HQ can get a bit warm for my liking, but is still within thermal limits...... and with this said, I am more optimistic and hopeful for the new 5th Gen line-up. I look forward to testing these models, and I suspect very nice temps from MSI's next flagship.
-
This infograph claims increases of 50% over 4th gen

Are you referring to the 'battery life' claim? Considering the 14nm lithography, it's a given that the 5th Gen processor will be more efficient.
-
Oh yes, didn't realize that was for battery life
-
Have the latest revision on preorder before the difference was made public (IE new cpu). Was actually hoping for a gsync monitor lol. Either way glad I waited.
-
Yeah I think the lack of gsync is likely a testing or panel issue, as Nvidia rejects some panels for gsync I was reading. Maybe msi just didn't want to pay for the testing, or maybe nvidia only worked on 15" and 17" modes as they are far more common?
-
Yep that's what I am thinking as well because these panels will most likley be shared between manufacturers be it MSI ASUS Gigabyte etc. The 18 inch screen isn't that common.
-
Well I just got my SLI-009 in 2 weeks ago and I can't believe I'm seeing a new model being released. Considering that during gaming (Archeage) I see CPU temps in the mid 80's and maybe a quick pip into low 90's, I'm wondering if I shouldn't be looking at paying Newegg's restock fee and get the 5th gen. Like Striker, I don't like the higher temps and am concerned about longevity.
I've seen a couple posts indicating that we shouldn't be so concerned. I just don't understand why they would've made it same price. I saw there was one guy refusing delivery. Is there anybody else on here that's planning on trading up?
