Yes, I understand dual 4k output, and 'soon' means like the next couple days.

Good lord, and here i was thinking about buying a car. Looks like new car has to wait.
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Ah shucks, get both, LOL!
So what will the GT83VR offer over previous models, and why do I want it? When comparing to my previous SLI-072, I find.......
1.) Well of course, there is the pair of those lovely and efficient 1080's..... a given! (Doesn't everyone enjoy a nice pair?)
2.) A much improved and new cooling design, 3 quiet and efficient vortex fans, 15 heat-pipes.
3.) Twice the stock DDR4 system memory
4.) Twice the stock primary PCI-e NVMe storage (3300MB/s reads)
5.) 16GB of the new GDDR5X mem.
6.) A 660W (330W x2) PA (the 460W PA's (230W x2) will be for lessor models supporting 1070 SLI, etc.)
.....and whatever other surprises MSI has in store. Those improvements alone, were enough to prompt me to sell my SLI-072.
-
all 3 fans 12v? cpu heatsink worked by 3 fans? lol
-
Says here that the GT83VR uses desktop CPU and has 2x330w @Mr. Fox

I don't have any information suggesting a desktop CPU..... that is news to me! We'll see shortly, because Ken will be reviewing my new toy soon.
@ole!!!, I do not have any info on fan voltages yet, but they are a new vortex type design, supposedly much more efficient, quieter, and lighter blades, dubbed as 'Whirlwind Blade' fans. The illustration makes it difficult to tell, unclear, but there are 15 heat pipes, and each processor has it's own fan.

Hi all new user here and just had a quick question. Are they simply announcing this next week or will it actually be avialable for purchase as well? Thanks in advance and apologies if this is something that's been asked and answered already.
-
i seriously doubt it considering they'll have quite a bit of redesign and pissing off intel. if they end up doing 6700K CPU thats great and its time for me to buy, 0.01% chance that happening though.
honestly i could care less about how many heatpipes, it can have 40 heatpipes as much as it could handle but none of them to cool cpu lol. i wish to see the heatsink design for CPU, to know if it will still take GT80/80s idea that 1 pipe goes toward each GPU fan, yet add additional fins on 1 side so the extra fan can cool it.
going for highest possiblity of cpu type in gt83vr which would be a 6820hk, if only the new added 3rd fan works on it, its still junk. 6820hk runs so hot due to crappy silicon and high voltage, even a 6700k at 4.7ghz can run cooler than 6820hk at 4.2ghz, just how it works. -

Seems like Nvidia really puts GDDR5X into notebooks! -
You mean from Gentech? Why would you buy from them?
They explicitly stated on youtube that they'll dishonor any warranty claim if the warranty sticker is broken. But on this forum the MSi rep confirmed that your warranty is still active and the sticker is only used in place of observing possible user damage to the system. It means that Gentech doesn't trust it's customers. I won't deal with them/him. -
What does Gentech's opinion have to do with anything? You call MSI directly for warranty claims, not the reseller.-=$tR|k3r=- likes this.
-
don't the reseller offer warranty options that's longer than msi's 2 year?
-
You can extend your warranty, beyond 2 years, directly through MSI. Prices are pretty much the same too.-=$tR|k3r=- likes this.
-
hmm, never heard of this possibility
how do I do it? -
Here you go. I believe you have to register your laptop with them, within 30 days of the purchase.-=$tR|k3r=- likes this.

Well, sorry my reply wasn't good enough for you. As mentioned, the illustration doesn't make it clear to me, and I gave the best answer I could. MSI has indicated a new re-designed cooling system for the GT83VR, and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. It's too early to know anything just yet, and who knows if the heat sink design meets your personal expectations. Whatever the new design, my concern is, 'Is it an improvement, both cooling and noise levels..... Is it efficient...... Does it work adequately supporting the cooling of all processors?'
We shall see soon! I'm excited!
LOL! It's only a day and hours now.....the countdown continues.....
Yes, it's true, but I've heard this applies to the 1080 only...... and for now, only the GT83VR will be so equipped.
Hmmmm, can't say I recall that video, but surely there has to be more to this story. With such as this, I would say there needs to be clarification from GenTech. Perhaps we will see this, but why GenTech? Because as a customer, personally they have always been fair, resolved every issue I ever had, have acted as a mediator when dealing with manufacturer's, and provided a level of customer service and satisfaction 'above and beyond' my expectation. As has been pointed out by Kevin, the manufacturer covers warranty with their warranty programs, and reseller's generally offer 3rd party warranty extension programs. Furthermore, most reseller policies are competitive amongst one another, and as to the 'sticker', mandates to this generally come from the manufacturer..... and this policy is always subject to change. Again, I feel certain there is more to this story, and this does NOT mean we should assert or imply, "GenTech doesn't trust it's customers".

The unboxing videos are for global viewers, we don't know if they buy from us or not. Some regions are very strict on warranty stickers.
The sticker is there so the video just need to warn people to be careful if they know what they are doing.
Any laptops buy from GenTech will never have issues with warranty stickers removed. -
so when will it be out of the box for us to see? in 1 day? 2 days?
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
I've heard Ken will be doing a video soon, probably in the upcoming week, and that he will be using my unit for this.....mixed emotions..... part of me says, NOoooooo...... another says, YESsssss, because I want him to evaluate it. You better treat er' sweetly Ken! I know he'll be tearing it apart for the video, but I don't mind, because I usually have him peek at the factory thermal paste anyhow. HEY KEN, NO HAMMERS, HACKSAWS, or COURSE FILES this time..... NO CROWBARS or TIRE IRONS either.... OK buddy? LOL!

No problem.
In US you can pretty much do anything you want without worry void the warranty, actually there is a lot of fun doing modifications your own as long as there no physical damage.

Amazon India has listed the laptop specs but still unavailable for purchase.
here;s the link: http://www.amazon.in/MSI-7200rpm-4-256GB-Windows10-GTX1070/dp/B01JLZ2DIQ -
yep still mobile cpu.
-
The laptop specs are lacking, still waiting for release time I assume.
The CPU is listed as
- Latest 6th Gen Core i7(6700HQ) Processor
It's rumored to be a 6920HQ, but another rumor says MSI jumped up to a 6700K.
Only 11 hours to go... -
LittleKidFromTheHood Notebook Enthusiast
anyway Clevo/Sager or MSI GT83VR?
I have been waiting for this day so long

It's been wonky since the beginning, doesn't always show the countdown clock, but it's always been "correct" for me.
As of right now, just under 11 hours left
-

It's gonna be a toss up, which one is available to order, which one delivers soonest, which one has the best performance and reliability.
That's all not gonna get answered in 11 hours
-
Ok I can easily wait 11hours ^^. I think the countdown clock checks the current time from the computer but doesn't take into account time zone
. Thanks for the heads up ! I just hope this week in Europe we'll be able to order pascal laptops
.
I just need to know the price, the specs that's it. In depth review not that important since I can send back the computer within 14 days if it's not reliable enough or doesn't perform as advertised.hmscott likes this. -
Yeah, the count down timer/clock is gone wonky again
It says 1 day 1 hour... should say less than 11 hours...
Here's the last snapshot I took last night, shows the correct countdown time from then:

Hey, someone's gotta buy the first unit's off the production line, it might as well be you two.
Might as well buy both, then compare and benchmark both side by side, it's the only way to be sure

The launch begins in the U.S., 15 Aug, 9PM PST..... 16 Aug, 1AM EST.
-
what rumour? cause a 6700k would make me buy it right away but doubt it
-
Can thermal glue stuff into the heatpipe w/o void? -
those are bad, dont use them. not meant to withstand high heat and the performance is junky compared to even thermal pads the crappy ones. id say if u wish to stabilise some moded heat pipe/heat sink then use fujitpoly xtreme cooling pad (really xpensive though) and then on the outer or tip/ends with decent area use thermal tape to tape it.
better yet if u dont plan to remove the moded heatsink/pipe then just go for straight soldering lol. -
Fuji isn't adhesive.
What thermal tape can be used? -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso

I hope this monster would be available for purchase as soon as they announce it.
-=$tR|k3r=- and hydro94530 like this. -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
I wish too, but I don't think that will happen..... most likely later in the month, but you'll know were very close when Ken does his video review.
-
have u tried to remove a heatsink thats on a GPU for a long time? its hard as hell to remove bro, though it isn't meant to be adhesive its rather useful.
