    Hello there!

First of all, I am very new to this forum, please forgive me if a similar question has already been answered.

I own a custom built MSI 17625 Whitebook for just shy of two years. It's worked wonderfully but recently the GPU, GTX 670m, died. As in it physically died. I've ordered a GTX 770m as replacement, but I honestly have no idea what I need to do before upgrading/replacing.

I've tried researching online, but I've only found contradictory answers. Some say I can upgrade without problem, other say I can. Some say I can with a modified BIOS, others says a BIOS change won't do anything.

At this point, I have no idea and I'm completely lost. If someone could offer a clear answer and, if possible, a step-by-step guide for upgrading, I would deeply appreciated it.

    Thanks

Depending on what you paid for the 770m I would cancel it and order a 970m. You will get like 2x the performance or more. The card can be had for $450 and will give your laptop new life and make it last for a few more years. It will probably also run cooler and will offer newer features as well.

I created a GT60/70 upgrade thread. It's on the first page. This will serve as a rough guide as it is for 970/980m GPU upgrade. But most of it can at least get you an idea of what is entailed in the upgrade.

There is also a link where to buy the card in my post.

Can't return the 770m at this point. I'll probably buy a 970m next year and use the 770m as a backup.

What about BIOS or firmware? My current BIOS version is E1762IG6.30N. Will it work with the new GPU?
