these temps attached are reflective of the 5850 being overclocked at 850/1050 at a resolution of 1080p by way of hdmi connected to my sharp led hdtv. i just would like other opinions of these temps considering the resolution and clocks and if i should keep them when i game. i ask this because i just prefer my tv's screen compared to the gx640 monitor.

Those temps are pretty good for such a big overclock. Or are those idle temps? In that case, ouch, I could cook my breakfast on that GPU. You should try MSI Afterburner as well for monitoring the temps, I usually find it more accurate and detailed. Also, I wonder what kind of game you're running that requires that much graphical power at a mere 1920x1080 resolution. I find the default clocks to be more than adequate for most games, including Crysis and Bad Company 2.
Are you running parallel processing applications like Folding@Home? -
Wow, that seems a great temp for the huge overclock you are using. My old GTX260m would reach over 90C on stock, and depending on the day, even 100C.
But I think I will try overclocking with my new MSI, because my max temp so far is 78C with regular fan use, and 68C with turbo fan setting. -

nice! my gx640 stock cooling with clocks of 750/1100 reaches around 91oC after several hours of bc2. I havent dared to try furmark yet

no, not all. just running the game. i was playing dragon age and risen. somewhat demanding games. but at max settings with 8x AA. as far as the temps, high 40's and low 50's at idle. 80's at load. those are at the clocks i posted.

i wouldn't either. i figure games are benchmarks themselves.

Then it's awesome. Those are my temps at stock clocks!
