I bought a gx640 this summer, and now I'm going to reformat it and start taking better care of it.
Is there anything special I need to know about it before I do? I've never reformatted a laptop, and i know it probably doesn't make a difference, but why chance it?
Are all of the drivers included on the CD that came with my computer?
Thank you.

download latest ones from the MSI website and put them on external.
Then, use the Windows installation to format it, don't format the entire drive because you'll lose the recovoery partition too. -
Do i need the recovery partition?
Can't I just repartition it when I re install windows? -
Recovery partition gives you a backup in case anything screws up.

Recovery is a waste of space.

The only drivers that need to be downloaded from the MSI site are for the chipset. Everything else should be downloaded from the hardware manufacturer as they're going to be newer. Download audio from Realtek, display from AMD, wireless LAN from Intel. Windows 7 has built-in drivers for Ethernet. -
This. And don't forget SCM.
