    Bad Hinge Design - MSI Stealth Pro 225-BD 17.3

    I purchased this from Costco.com. Sweet machine, but terrible hinge design. Both hinges broke just after my 90 day return period at Costco. To be specific, the hinges themselves are metal and probably are tightened too much at the factory. As seen in the video below, there is a tension nut that can be adjusted to alleviate the problem. Otherwise, the plastic on the lid is not strong enough to handle the repeated stress of opening and closing. UPS Ground to MSI + insurance is $45 from East Coast. I would think that a self repair (or opening the bezel) would void your warranty.

    If warranty is not an issue, this guy fixed his with some strong epoxy. IMHO MSI should recall these or pay to have a Geek Squad-type service loosen the hinge nuts.

    Since it's still under warranty, just let MSI handle this for you. If you believe you can make a good case with MSI then you can request to speak to a supervisor directly when you contact them.
