    Hi all

My goal is to benckmark a Samsung SSD 830 on a MSI GT683R but it this possible. I think of the SSD speed get way pass the specs for MSI SATA part with is only 300 and not 600 as the Samsung offers.

What to do to get full speed

I probably won't be much help, but looking up your Laptop specs, it looks like you have an E-sata port. You could try hooking it up to that, as you should in theory get full speed. Or, you could buy an enclosure and hook it up to USB 3. But that will still be slower than the internal sata port. Hope i helped a bit :)

BTW your laptop's lights are pretty cool :D

    Thanks for your post.

The e-SATA will not give a better performance and the same with extern enclosure. The problem is that there is no noteboom that will offer 6Gbps? as the drive offers

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the GT683 is equipped with 2nd gen. i-series CPUs; it is built around the HM67 chipset. The HM67, according to intel, supports up to 6 sata ports, two of which are sata3/6Gbps. You should be able to use the full potential of Your SSD on this machine.

    Ohh sounds great!
So install the SSD instead of one of the standard harddrives. Install the SSD with OS and benchmark the product?

    This sounds about right :)
You can also use CrystalDiskInfo to double check, whether the drive works in SATA2 or SATA3 mode.
