Looking to upgrade my laptop. I will post pics of part numbers so I can hopefully be sure of what I need. Any links to items would be greatly appreciated also.
I have a GT60-0NC-004US with a 3GB GTX670m, I have read I can get a 4GB GTX780m, but am not sure if I have the right power supply or what heat sink to get, etc. I want to make sure I do it right. And I am not sure if I could jump to a 900 series card or not.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

With an update to the latest bios for your machine and a new heatsink from the latest GT60 (or a modification to your existing one), the 970M or 980M are your best options and would be plug and play for the most part (you need to use modified inf drivers from the likes of laptopvideo2go.com)

Would I need an upgraded power supply or battery to run those GPUs? Also, would I lose the turbo button functionality? I updated my drivers to the latest Nvidia ones and lost the turbo button... Haven't bothered switching back though.

Do you have a link for the updated BIOS? I am buying a 880M and want to go ahead and update the BIOS. Is there a guide one how to do it somewhere?
-
Also, right now I am running Windows 7, but want to switch to 8.1 Pro. Should I do that before I update the BIOS?

Once the mode is selected, then run OS installation. -
Alright. I'll do that.
Where is the BIOS needed for my laptop to be able to run the 880? -

Here it is, it's just an update, but 880M is not guaranteed.

I believe UEFI mode has less problems when upgrading your video card if I recall... But I think that was specifically with the 980M. UEFI is pretty standard theses days either way.

That still doesn't answer the question of which to update first, OS or BIOS?
-
2. Why an 880M over 980M? The latter is 2x its speed.
3. Did you see this thread? -
I believe it's bios first. I would for sure back up all your important files first prior to proceeding. Yeah I'm pretty darn sure your going to want to update the bios first then proceed with the install. Because you want to install via uefi mode. These are the steps I would take.
1. Back up
2. Update bios
3. Power down and remove battery/power supply
4. Install the new card
5. Reassemble
6. Insert windows 8.1 disk/flash drive
7. Power on the system go into bios and set uefi mode and check to make sure everything is recognized then boot from the windows 8.1 source and it should install without a hitch...

And yes. I saw the thread, but there a 100+ pages, and thought I could get a quicker answer with my own thread. -

Might be even cheaper to source a 780M.
-
I've already purchased the 880M, got a good deal on it.
-
Updates? Get it working yet?
-
Haven't had time.

Get your hard drives?

Yes I did and I sent you payment. Again, thanks!
