Great Phoenix
Is this with the MSI's OS image? And will it be tested with faster RAM again? Aka previous ram was anomaly/deviation? And same firmware?
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
please no more RAM discussions bro
This is an image from MSI, my replacement laptop will arrive soon but I posted this image for people who are wary of buying this laptop to let them know it IS GSYNC enabledAtma, DukeCLR, hmscott and 1 other person like this. -

Soon time for CPU BENCHING

I am pretty certain that machine for replacing will arrive with 30A BIOS. Congrats for problem being solved. I like how HIDEvolution takes care support as well as other resellers do. Better than MSI itself or BestBuy.
P.S. It's funny how general rhetoric changed from cautious "there is no certain if this model has official G-Sync support'" to "it must have G-Sync, this specific case is unique and doesn't represent whole model line".Last edited: Feb 3, 2017Rynaus, Spartan@HIDevolution, DukeCLR and 1 other person like this. -
That's what is great about forums like this. Owner's get together and discuss things about their machines and learn. If it wasn't for forums like this nobody would know about G-SYNC since it isn't really advertised "officially" as an option.Papusan, Rynaus, Spartan@HIDevolution and 2 others like this.

Wow nice, did they have to replace the laptop entirely?
-

yes as the previous one was bricked after me trying to reinstall the 308 BIOS again thinking it might make GYNC work. They sent me a FedEx guy to my house within a few hours to replace the laptop and now they're testing the replacement. Luckily, the replacement has the newer 30A BIOS not 308Last edited: Feb 3, 2017DukeCLR, hmscott, Atma and 1 other person like this. -
Was it really bricked or just small malfunctions like inability to update BIOS? MSI laptops got a very established throne of Easy to brick BIOS kingdom since the first UEFI gaming laptop and till now when laptops wouldn't go past MSI logo. So was it like this or totally black screen or? And how did you manage this? Just curious

Seeing that other members had GSYNC, I thought, let me try reflashing the BIOS again even though it was the same version that was already installed on the laptop ( version E17A1IMS.308)
I followed the instructions to the dot. Flash update started, I got the warning that the EC Firmware will be reset afterwards and that I need to do a shutdown and remove the power cable. As the flash started, the screen just went blank and stayed like that for more than 5 minutes. I then shutdown the laptop and try turning it on again, the laptop was bricked.
I had no clue what went wrong until today, MSI released a new BIOS ( E17A1IMS.30A) and in the change log it mentions: Fix BIOS update fail in UEFI BIOS Flash and SHELL mode.
That's exactly what bricked my machine, the previous BIOS which was on it 308 and not any of my fault as this new BIOS fixes that flashing failureLast edited: Feb 4, 2017 -

Now the good news is, the new replacement system came with the 30A BIOS preinstalled from MSI and it DOES have GSYNC
The laptop was just shipped by it might be delayed for a while (FedEx tracking status, delayed import process from Dubai)Papusan, win32asmguy, steberg and 3 others like this. -
And Notebookcheck reviewed MSI GT73VR 7RF Titan Pro model 03/01/2017. For over a month ago. It was about time MSI released new BIOS when they knew about the problem. Surely more people who have tried to re-flash the bios with the same bad result. Old firmware like this old one is like a ticking time bomb

Just received my new replacement laptop, did nothing except put back my SSDs, as in, not even using the MSI recovery image...... same installation as I had before on the buggy laptop which had no GSYNC, the moment I booted.......

Glad you got it straightened out. Go forth and conquer!hmscott, MBN and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

That's great news, but totally expected, as all the other GT73VR's have come with G-sync
Did @Donald@HIDevolution debug why that first one didn't? -

Donald is not technician. Nothing can be done with the old laptop since it was bricked when I tried to reflash the same BIOS over it again. Probably was that buggy 308 BIOS anyway -
So gt73vr fhd have a gsync or no? I plan to buy this laptop
