I'd love to know more about the ge73vr and the gs73vr. When is the expected release date? Will it be using optimus or g-sync? Will it be the regular 1070s or the new Max-q cards? Are there any other comps with similar components and size coming out?

This is the most information I could find on the specs of the two models. 4 giant speakers and new 3ms 120hz screen in the raider. I can't imagine the stealth being able to cool a 1070 enough though. -
MSI has refreshed this series entirely. I think it has surpassed the GS series which has a handicapped 1070 Max-Q and other older specs. The only thing GS had going for it was its form factor but MSI has made the GE63/73 much thinner. And all of this for what will likely be a much lower price that the GS63/73.

The GE series looks quite good, surprisingly.
From what I can tell, it looks like it's missing Thunderbolt support, and the WiFi card had been gimped in the past. I'll be curious to see what the final specs are.Womb Raider likes this. -
I like GE63VR with sound quality, kb, ports.
But as the GE62, the build quality not as good as 7567.

Max-Q? Get rip.

2,300? I wanted a thinner laptop than the gt72vr but not for $1000 dollars more... Now I can't even find the gt72vr for $1300 anymore either...
-
I agree ... those prices are horrible. That's the GT's price range. The GE was definitely mid-level product. And they're only giving a 1 year warranty on those to boot? I don't know if those are just XoticPC's "early" prices or based on MSRP. If it's MSRP, come on, MSI.
MSI's getting ridiculous with their prices any more. I love their laptops but come on ... not everyone wants to drop a huge chunk of change on a laptop that will either need upgrading or replacing in a couple years. Companies are so worried about outdoing each other on the high end that they're forgetting that few people either can or want to pay those prices. There's plenty of room for solid offerings in the $1500-2000 range. -
Yea something definitely weird has happened in the last few weeks. I check prices regularly and as soon as these newer models were announced the gt72vr and the p670rs both with 6700hq and 1070s used to be available for 1300. Now they are gone and the gt72vr with the 1060 and 6700hq is going for 1600...

Memory prices (RAM, VRAM, SSD) are increasing day by day and thus items using these are getting more expensive too.
-
Have an idea about the incidence of memory chips in the final price of those notebooks? Because he's talking about a 23% hike in the price of the whole product, not just some upgrades or components. (In my opinion, it's a lot!)
-
Well the price increase of the installed RAM, Video card and SSD might increase the overall price of the whole product.
-
Yes. But what I'm thinking is that even if memory chips had a 50% price increase (which is a random number I consider pretty high), a 23% increase in the final price of the notebook means that the incidence of memory chips on the final price is 46%! (Which I believe is absurd)

WTF! Why is the GE73VR with the 1070 2,300 dollars?! I've been waiting since march for a slimmer alternative to the GT72VR. Anyone know of anything else on the horizon? PA70HS? I'm starting to consider getting the GT73VR for 2150 at this point...
-
PA70HS seems like a cool looking laptop, but no hint of the specs or price yet?
What is the specs of the GT73VR? Is it refurbished? -
are there a thunderbolt3 port on ge63vr/ge73vr?
-
one.de sells that pa70hs

I'm probably going to get the ge73vr. Will I be able to hook up a 4k tv to it in the future? HDMI cable should be enough right? I only ask because I saw others saying it won't work on some other older msi or maybe sager models.

As long as the system supports HDMI 2.0, and you have an appropriate high-bandwidth cable, you should be fine.gnarkill283 likes this. -
Ive got the GE72MVR and im quite happy with it. Returned an Alienware 17 and went with this.
-
Can you please post temps of bf1, overwatch, or witcher 3? It would be much appreciated. I'm not going to buy this unless I know for sure that it runs these games under 85c
-
Dont have bf1 or witcher 3. But with -.110v on OW i get 77-80c (cpu), gpu barely ever breaks low 70's. Overall im very happy with the laptop, had it about a week now. I think in the future I may get a repaste done with grizzly kryonaut for even better temps. But honestly these temps are just fine. Returned an Alienware 17 that had a 1080 a few months ago...honestly wasnt worth the price and so far the 1070 is amazing! Great fps. The 120hz screen is kick ass too. You'll definately want to undervolt for best temps.

Hi, i just got the new MSI GE73VR with 1070 a week ago to be exact. I chose this laptop over Asus and Acer because of the cooler boost 5 and 2 extra ventilation compared to older model such as GE72VR. And here i thought it will run the game cooler. i played battlefield 1 with auto fan and temp are around 79-85C(peaked at 89C in hwinfo) for the CPU and around 74C for the GPU just after 5 minutes into the game. Is this normal? Should the laptop be running cooler? should i order a new piece?
p.s.1) I did not update the new bios or any firmaware yet. 2) im running on default msi factory windows(no fresh install) 3) do you recomend undervolting? 4) is my laptop faulty or is it normal? -
From what I've seen and heard so far, it looks like most are peaking their CPU at 83 and their GPU in the mid 60's to low 70's.
Where did you get your laptop and is it running the stock thermal paste?

Oh forgot to mention its an indian variant. Yes it is running the stock thermal paste.
-
Very easy to change the thermal paste. IC Diamond or some Gelid should lower your Temps by at least 5 degrees celsius

I would do that after few months but since i bought this laptop just a week ago i am just worried that i might have bought a faulty piece. Is it normal getting those temps with the new cooler boost 5 and two more ventilation on each sides?
-
I honestly don't know for sure. What are your ambient Temps like?
If you watch Gentechs review on their YouTube page, their review unit is hitting 83 max on the CPU and 63 max on the GPU during benchmarks.
You would be better off asking Ken from Gentech if those Temps are normal. I'm sure he's seen the Temps on multiple units since they benchmark every unit they ship.

Apologies for reviving thread. I'm about to purchase the MSI GE63VR-075, which is the 1070 Version, which is at a base rate of $1799 (Finally a likable price!), hence am curious.
Hey. It's been a month, any updates on your laptop? -
Yea not what i expected but happy with it. With 110-120V undervolt, the temps are below 80C for almost all games, but for BF1 it peaked 82C and averaging around 75C(i used HWinfo software). One thing to remember, my ambient/room temperature is around 26C, so that makes a difference in temps during gaming.
-
Those Temps are awesome.
I highly doubt you will see Temps that good on any other laptop this size.
