Woah. As we know, Optimus pushes frames rendered by the dGPU to the iGPU. I sold a MSI GS70 I loved because I wanted a better/higher refresh rate screen. This could be the answer. :O I found this on Reddit and cannot verify it works as it looks like it is using a beta driver (though comments indicate it does), but either way I wanted to share it and discuss: https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/5kb8ab/custom_resolution_with_optimus/
This lets you create a custom resolution at a custom refresh rate. Let me know whatcha think and if it works for you!![]()

Wow. This could be great. Definitely going to try this out on my GE70 at some point. Will update in the coming days to what I find out (3 day weekend coming up, maybe then). Thanks for posting this!

I've been following that thread for over a year on the Intel forums. I've posted numerous times calling Intel out on their BS reasons for blocking this ability.
Finally a guy named Bryce listened and pushed the changes through and spoke on behalf of the community to the devs at Intel. Great Xmas gift for the people that have waited years for this.
Of course it happened just in time for meO to no longer have an Optimus enabled laptop. I see a giybwas able to overclock his GS60 PLS display to 80hz!! That's a great improvement!Entionz likes this. -
That's awesome to know! Before finding this while looking on the reddit for MSI GT73VR news, I had thought of making adjustments through the iGPU a pipe dream! Great changes!

Didn't actually dig enough in to it originally, my CPU / Intel HD isn't supported. This bums me out. But curious to hear how it might work for anybody with 6th gen processors.

Gah, I was not aware of that either. But I guess it makes sense, being a beta driver and all. Still, ugh.

CRU 1.3 just updated and now support Haswell machines as well.
