Hello guys.
MSI GS60 Ghost Pro here
Everything until yesterday used to be great, I would have 39C temps on idle, around 70-79 when under extreme load (gaming), never had any sort of throttling or whatever, I was using MSI silent option fan controller with a custom setup for the temps (I have had it installed for months, never had an issue).
Today I discover that the fan kicks in very late, only after the CPU has already reached critical temps, like 85C!!! and after a short while, it would stop for no apparent reason.
If left on idle, the fan would stop completely and the temps would stay between 70-80C!!! I tried uninstalling silent option, tinkering about with it, but to no avail. What I did find out though, is that every time I would change settings on silent option, and apply them, the fan would kick in every time I did, only to stop shortly after.
Right now I put everything, from the cold setting to the hottest one, to 150%, and the fan basically starts and stop spinning every few seconds like crazy, barely allowing me to use at least the browser at low % use without going above 80C!!!
I tried to download also programs like speedfan to try and set the fan speed at 100% all the time, but to no avail, actually in that program it doesn't even find the fans at all.
Please help, I am desperate as I am not even at home, I just moved abroad and I don't even know any shop I can trust to bring the notebook for a checkup!
I have the feeling there is something wrong with the heat sensor, not sure if the mobo or the fan itself. The tragedy of these laptops is that from what I have seen, you just can't replace the fan yourself because it's sort of fixed below the heatsink, I would have to take too much of the notebook apart and I don't really have the tools or the experience to do that when it comes to laptop, only with desktops.
Thanks to anybody who will offer some advice or sympathy.
Desperately need help with my cpu fan behaving erratically
