It can't go 5GHz. Maybe it can idle at that clock, but its useless if it can't run any benchmark or game at that level. 3.2-3.5 is enough for gaming.

By the way Validate it with CPU-Z :D :D

well i am leaving at 3.7Ghz cuz when I go over it i cant run tests, scared of to much voltage dont want to kill motherboard went to 5Ghz voltage over 1.4v so not sure if the motherboard wont die and even 1.4 isnt enough cuz Bsod so i think at 5ghz i need at least 1.5 V or 1.6v but very sared :)

at 3.7Ghz 1.375v everything run ok

Little comparision, below is a list of laptop CPUs last number on the right is a SuperPI 1M score

benchmarks taken from Mobile Processors - Benchmarklist - Notebookcheck.net Tech

So My Friends How good is our old Q9200ES ? well SuperPI 1M says 13.3 so basically better to buy Q9200es than for example i7 2635QM cuz q9200es you can very easy overclock up to almost 4Ghz :D anyone interested CPUMark score at 3.7Ghz 6200 :)

    Intel Core i7-2635QM 512KB + 6MB 14
    Intel Core i7 2630QM 512KB + 6MB 14

    I made today a new Benchmark Cinebench 11.5 x64 Q9200ES at 3.7Ghz

    results

well graphic performance are better than desktop ati fire pro v8750 or quadro fx5800 or gtx 280

Score 51.93 on my little 4850 500mb with help of q9200es at 3.7Ghz

Score for the Cpu 4.28 not very good comparing to desktop I7 Cpus :D or Xeons

Powerful older cpu you got there, but I hope you realize that operating frequency isn't everything. A 2630qm will be faster than a Q9200ES at lower frequency speeds, in addition to running cooler, and with less power.

well even when i overclock to 4Ghz (it wont be stable) the temp aint problem cuz my beautifully and woderfully made lappy has got custom made cooling :p

at 4Ghz isnt stable cuz im scared to go with the voltage to far not sure if the motherboard wont explode or something.

as you see from my previous post i7 2635 does calculation of 1M, 1second longer comparing to Q9200ES clocked at 3.7Ghz and 1.3v

I agree that your CPU has better over clockability, but something nice about my notebook coming with the 2630QM is that my mobo will also be compatible with the Ivy bridge processors coming out next year...since they will use the same socket type.

well youre wrong it wont my dear :) socket will but not chipset :p googe it if you dont believe

ivy compatible mobos do not exist yet if someone told you 780 will work with ivy he lied to you there is only one Asus desktop mobo that could be compatible with ivy after attaching to it pci board with chipset which doesnt even fit in the full atx case. there are videos on youtube.

Well, according to wikipedia..."Ivy Bridge processors will be backwards-compatible with the Sandy Bridge platform." Granted, that could be wrong since it's wikipedia...I guess we won't know for sure until it comes out :p

well ivy will fit in current sandy bridge socket if it will work at all it wont have

    pci3.0 support
    build if graphic support
    sata 3 and 4 support

but yeah best is to wait and see
