    Good afternoon,

As the tittle says, I'm confused about the possibility of taking advantage of freesync monitors with a msi laptop which does not have G-sync.

I understand you can take advantage of freesync with nvidia GPU, but in my case I own a msi laptop with rtx 2060 and no G-sync. Will I be able to use freesync monitor?

    Thanks in advance.

As long as the laptop has some form of DisplayPort output, either via a dedicated port or through USB-C/Thunderbolt 3, and said port is internally wired to the NVIDIA GPU, you will be able to use G-Sync on an external monitor. If the monitor is on NVIDIA's tested compatibility list, adaptive sync will work straight away; if not, you'll have to enable it manually in the driver control panel.

Thanks for the replies. How would I know if the DP is directly wired to the dGPU? I have a MSI GP75 with i7 9750H and RTX 2060.

Check if Nvidia Control Panel shows it.

There are very few laptops with a discrete GPU that is not connected to at least one of the available display outputs. It's extremely unlikely that yours is one of them.

All modern MSI laptops as of the last 5+ years are connected to the DP, you're fine.
